So I use Outlook Express while at work to check my personal e-mail. It was working fine the other day, then all of a sudden, messages stopped displaying in the display field. Everything seems to work fine other than that. I can send mail fine and such, and the messages still come into the inbox, but when I click on a message in the inbox to view and read it, it doesn't display. If I put my cursor in the message display box, I get the hourglass, like the program is trying to open it. If I double click the message subject, the message will open in it's own window, but still no message body, and I get the hourglass. The same thing happens if I go into newsgroups. Odd thing in the newsgroups, though, is that I can double click to open the message in it's own window and I get the same blank window and hourglass, but if I then click on the Forward button the message will then be displayed in the new forward window as quoted text. I tried this for messages in my Inbox, but it doesn't work. In some cases, the original e-mail message will show up as an attached .txt file that I can click on and then I can read/view the e-mail via WordPad. This doesn't happen for every message, though. Any ideas here? Has this happened to anybody else? Help!

Just speculating here -- are you using Word as your e-mail editor? If so, are you also having problems with Word.

If yes to either of these, try changing so you AREN'T using Word as your e-mail editor.

The Maniac Says:    Outlook express is part of Microsoft Internet explorer. I recommend that you download Internet explorer 6 and then do a windows update.

If you have go back or systems restore you can go back to when you had no problem.

Not using Word for my e-mail editor. I don't think I can do a restore back to when I wasn't having problems, either. I'm at work and just using OE to check my personal e-mail here in the office, so I'm on a LAN. I'm sure I'd have to have LAN Admin privileges to be able to download any programs or run any backups. I submitted a trouble ticket to the LAN admins, but haven't heard back, more than likely because someone's personal e-mail on Outlook Express is not a pressing matter for them to work on.

I don't get HBO but I picked up on Six Feet Under during its first season when traveling (since that's the one channel you're almost guaranteed every motel has.)
