Since the game itself is a joke the only thing of interest, Imo, is who didn't get invited but should have and who got invited but shouldn't have.

1. D. McNabb - common Vick over McNabb, the NFL hype machine is in overdrive on this one, please tell me they are going to give Vick his bronze bust at half time so they can express ship it to Canton, don't get me wrong I’m a VT fan, thanks to my bro., and I love watching Vick play but he should still be a year away.

2. Donnie Edwards - time to wake up and notice that he is playing much better than Seau, this is the third year in a row that this guy should have been picked.

3. Seabass - Ok he is a drunk, but who here isn't. He is second in the AFC in scoring to Holmes; usually the highest scoring kicker is selected.

4. Steve McNair - I have to put him in here although I don't know whom I would take off to get him in, if pressed I would say Bledsoe since his second half has been poor.

Others who should go but I couldn’t justify taking someone else off the team:
Eric Barton, John Parrella, Kyle Turley, Aaron Brooks & Tom Brady.

Shouldn't be going:

1. Shockey - NFL hype machine goes into overdrive, 1 TD, most impressive play was in preseason against expansion team.

2. Vick - see above.

3. Alstot - he should be in the running back category, his blocking is suspect, put a true fullback in this spot.

4. Randy Moss - if you don't have anything nice to say...

5. Warren Sapp - run at him and he folds, his press is more due to his mouth these days.

6. Richard Seymour - I think this is more for his play last year, this year has not been impressive.

7. Adam Vinatieri - this selection is due to last year’s playoff performance, IMO. I believe he is 7th in the AFC in kicker scoring, not good enough.

8. Junior Seau – See above.

I'm sorry, and I realize these are your personal opinions and I do respect them...

...but if you're only playing 10 games of a 16-game season, then you haven't done enough to go to the Pro Bowl.

I agree with Billitt with you need to play 15 or 16 games to go to the pro bowl.

As for Vinatieri this guy is the most cluch kicker in the game. He is in the top 5 in points for AFC kickers but he has only missed 3 FG this year. All of those FG are 40+. One was 50+. He also hit a 57 yarder this year. Plus he does not miss when you are inside.

Remember the most important thing about the Pro-Bowl: 1/4-1/3 of the players chosen will have an 'injury' to prevent them from going, so most players snubbed end up in the game anyway.

I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.

Good point, I think Im more shocked that Vick (whom also has missed a couple games) got picked over more deserving players, McNabb, Brooks, and Johnson. While he does have the capablity to provide a highlight on every play, he is still not a copmplete quarterback, maybe a "sportscenter quarterback but not probowl.
And I choose to single out McNabb for deserving of the honor based on my opinion that he was the league MVP when he got hurt (even though Im a raider fan pulling for gannon).
edit: Add Tiki barber to the snubbed list, he should have made it over Faulk.

So you honestly think Warren Sapp is not one of the best DTs in the NFC? Somebody needs to come to grips...The attention that man draws from opponents is half of what makes that defense so great.

The Tennessee Titans are now know as Team No Respect.

And they should ask who Ty Law's vote for pro bowl QB went for after McNair made popped him on Monday Night Football on that TD run.

McNair won't make the pro bowl or win MVP but he'll be the MVP of a more important game at the end of January in San Diego.

And besides Mac, Keith Bulluck should have made it. He damn near leads the AFC in tackles. And Kevin Carter he has 7.5 sacks while being double teamed the whole year due the injury of Jevon Kearse.

But Steve McNair was the 2nd rated passer last year and didn't make it because they didn't make the playoffs. But this year he is leading the team to the playoffs and get beats out by Drew Bledsoe on a team that is not gonna sniff the playoffs and only made it because of the system he plays in.

And in the NFC Michael Vick made it.

In my book Michael Vick is the next Steve McNair. And Steve McNair is what Michael Vick wants to be.

It would be hard to justify anyone other than Sapp in that spot, with the lack of game breakers in the NFC at DT and the extra consideration voters seem to give sack numbers.
However, I will stand by my contention that Sapp has become one dimensional the last couple of years. He has become a pass rusher, who's biggest claim to fame is his mouth. Early in his career he had the motor that never quit for lack of a better discription. Now he seams to have spent time watching McGlockten keep racking up big paychecks while taking time off, and Siraguosa get TV gigs by running his mouth. He used to be a guy i enjoyed watching. But this year if it weeren't for Rice forcing the quarterback to constantly step up, or the outstanding secondary play Sapp wouldn't have anything to talk about.
Warren needs to shut up, stop dancing and play with fire again, and if he does (which he won't) people will still take notice, but for the right reasons.

Moss, Shockey, and Vick should not be going. Brad Johnson should take the place of Vick but I don't know who would replace the others.

From the infamous Wrestleline SS interview:

DTD: If you were to make changes in WCW, if you were in charge and not Ric Flair, what would they be?

SS: I'd get rid of all the old guys, and push the talent that has waited to get the push. The things they are doing, it's back in the 1980s. It's just bad, man. Flair doesn't even deserve to be on the show. You've got to get rid of all the old guys. Like what Vince did, they started pushing guys. Nobody knew who The Rock was 2 years ago. He made The Rock. Now The Rock just did Saturday Night Live. You've got to start with the young talent, talent people can relate to. Who are we trying to relate to if we've got a 50 year old man out there? Are we trying to relate, so a 50 year people and above will go out and buy a f*cking little toy? That ain't gonna happen. It's a f*cking joke.

Does it remind you of any show in particular?

I gave up getting annoyed at All-Star voting years ago.

The Pro Bowl has always seemed the most egregious (due to the unholy combination of fans, players and GMs voting), where young players don't make it the year they deserve, but usually make it the next year, based on the previous one.

The choice that bothers me the most is Alstott, who isn't even a fullback anymore. An evil to lay at the hype meister Chris Berman.

So is Larry Centers not a fullback because he made his reputation catching the ball rather than blocking?

And Brick, Sapp is still among the best DTs in the league, regardless of how one-dimensional you think he is. Pretending for a minute you are right and Sapp can't play the run, he is still so much better than all the other interior lineman at rushing the passer. And as for your Simeon Rice argument, you can turn it around and make just as valid a point that Rice wouldn't be having nearly as a good a season as he is without Sapp right next to him.

I'll back up 'Bucs to a point here. I don't think that Sapp is the player that he used to be...age does that.

That being said, I still think he deserves to go. He's still that much better at his position than most of the others that are out there. Hell even his reputation alone gets him double teamed more often than not.

And this...coming from a Pack fan.

Just to clear something up:

I don't think Alstott should go this year because the Tampa Bay running game sucks, and he probably just made in on repurtation. But to say he shouldn't go because he doesn't fit the traditional fullback mode is like saying Vick shouldn't go because he's a QB who's most dangerous weapon isn't his arm.

Out: Mike Alstott.

In: William Henderson, FB, Green Bay Packers. Sure, he's an alternate again...but dude deserves to be a starter. He's a true fullback, a helluva blocker, and is money around the goal line.

To think my little brother is an Alstott fan...gonna have to beat that out of him.

On Tennessee not getting any Pro Bowlers:

Last time I checked, wasn't the point of the game to win games for the team? Stats shouldn't matter... you don't have any Pro Bowlers, big deal. The only player I'd even consider as having anything remotely resembling Steve McNair, and sure, it'd be nice if he made it. But it's not like we're talking about a team full of stars. They're a team that wins games.

I can't stand the Giants, but Shockey is a force. The Giants rarely throw to the TE's in the red zone, relying exclusively on Tiki Barber or Amani Toomer (they don't score alot of points anyway). He leads the league in catches at TE and other than maybe Bubba Franks, he's the best TE in the NFC. Sure he's a showboat, but Hell, he went to Miami what do you expect.

Why does the Fullback still get a Pro Bowl spot when the position has all but disappeared?

From the infamous Wrestleline SS interview:
