CHICAGO -- Cubs right-hander Mark Prior went back on the 15-day disabled list Friday, this time with a strained left oblique muscle.
He got hurt while taking batting practice last Saturday in Milwaukee. Prior, who began the season on the disabled list with a sore shoulder, came off it June 18 and went 0-4 in four starts with a 7.71 ERA. He was scratched from his start last Sunday.
Prior joins Wood on the disabled list again. Cubs fans, it's only because I love you guys that I say this. Give up on Wood and Prior. These guys have seriously spent more time on the disabled list than on the pitchers mound. Isn't it time to just start building the club around Carlos Zambrano?
Well, if all else fails for Prior, he can always go back to his old gig: running a gallery with comic book drawings and plotting train wrecks in order to find the exact opposite of himself.
"I don't know if it's Biscayne Boulevard or where it is, but there is an image in my mind about the symbolic championship parade."
It won't be long before we trade them for nothing - and then they will suddenly become healthy and win a lot of games for other clubs. See Moyer, Jamie; Trachsal, Stave; and many, many more.
The Cubs are forever cursed.
As am I for not being able to root for any other club.

I think Progressiveboink nailed it pretty much here. (progressiveboink.com)

Prior and/or Wood going to the disabled list is as shocking as the sun rising in the East. Now, onto Chicago's major league baseball entrant: Is Buehrle hurt? Or is his recent ineffectiveness the result of keeping that idiotic 'He pitched at least 6 innings' streak alive, especially coupling that with an extra month of pitching last season due to the post-season? If he doesn't right his ship, the White Sox rotation doesn't seem as formidable.

More likely is a combination of a couple of things. One, he has become predictable. the last few outings have been basically due to teams jumping on his first pitch. He needs to be more effective with that first pitch, as he is not as effective getting behind the count. Also, earlier this year he was tipping his pitches some, and he may have slipped back into that. Lastly, the Sox defense has been pretty shoddy lately and Buehrle needs solid defense behind him to get the job done.
I wouldn't really say it was him trying to keep the streak alive. I can only think of at most 3 starts in that run where I would have considered taking him out before the 6th inning ended. If there is an injury I would say the streak had little to nothing to do with it. Even during that his pitch counts were relatively low and that's what most people seem to think are the biggest culprits in killing off pitchers, not so much the innings thrown.
That said, it would explain the recent Jason Schmidt rumors swirling about.
