Since I posted about getting tickets back in March, it's only fair to post about the show, right?
Prince and his amazing band put on quite a show at the FleetCenter last night. When "Let's Go Crazy" is the second song of the night, you know you're in for something. This was my first concert "in the round" with the stage in the middle rather than the end and it really worked well. In addition to playing practically every big hit he's ever had, (and that's A LOT, I began to realize) there was an unplugged version of the Stones' "Satisfaction" and a very plugged in version of "Whole Lotta Love" that would make Led Zeppelin say "Damn!" I've seen lots of concerts, (Springsteen, U2, Van Halen, Billy Joel, Aerosmith....) and Prince ranks pretty high up on the list of best performers. The tour wraps up next month, if you're a fan... go see the "Musicology" tour. (Hey, you get a free copy of the CD with the same title when you enter the building)
Funeral is a way better album than "Elephant" or "Is This It?" Otherwise I'm pretty happy with the list. 98. Return to Cookie Mountain, TV on the Radio 96. Original Pirate Material, The Streets 91. Veni Vidi Vicious, The Hives 89.
