If there was any game that made me laugh out loud at the heavy contestants, it was the Race Game. I mean, asking these people to run back and forth in 45 seconds might have been a bit much. It was also funny with the old ladies...

My favorite games: Dice Game, Lucky Seven, Safe Crackers, Squeeze Play, and the Time Capsule showcase. Yodeling along with the Cliff Hanger theme automatically got the TV turned off in our house though. Damn, I used to have a text file somewhere that I downloaded that had all the games on there.

I caught the True Hollywood Story on TPIR last Sunday... lots of weirdness there too.

There was a discussion at the comic shop yesterday that if you walked up to your average kid today and said "No whammies, no whammies" that they wouldn't know what you're talking about. Thank God for Game Show Network!

You couldn't be more right...I remember when I was a kid, game shows came on every half hour. Now your hard pressed to find any other that Price is Right, Jeopardy, or (ugh) wheel of fortune.

When I was a kid, the TV gameshow rotation was something like $10,000 pyramid first, followed by PIR, Classic Concentration, Sale of the Century (my personal favorite), Card Sharks, Press your Luck (Peter Temarkin was a vastly underrated game show host), Password, and the Match Game.

Kids these days just don't have any idea what they're missed out on...

gameshow network shows the same gameshows 3times a day.

"Press your Luck" around 6 times a day and that game was fixed.

Press Your Luck wasn't fixed but there was a guy who figured out the pattern of the board. Here is a link to his story:

If I lived back in the wild west days, instead of carrying a six-gun in my holster, I'd carry a soldering iron. That way, if some smart-aleck cowboy said something like "Hey, look. He's carrying a soldering iron!" and started laughing, and everybody else started laughing, I could just say, "That's right, it's a soldering iron. The soldering iron of justice." Then everybody would get real quiet and ashamed, because they had made fun of the soldering iron of justice, and I could probably hit them up for a free drink.

In addressing the "3 Strikes" game:

Old version - 5 numbers, 3 strikes

New/Current version - 5 numbers, 1 strike

You're just confusing the fact that Bob used to put the strikes in the little slot. Now he just throws it back in.

Saw the show last night and it was in full force...first game was called Triple Play and they gave THREE cars to one lucky contestant, a Malibu, a Pick Up and a Camaro Convertible... DAMN!!! .

They also had Squeeze Play, the $16,000 Bag Game and the board favorite PLINKO! with $50,000 thou up to grab, but the wuss threw the chips to the side. I miss the other games because i was between Friends, Family Guy, Whose Line & The Price is Right.

The last showcase one was a Boat/Trip worth over 48thou, and the other was a Corvette worth over 80thou, but she lost as she bid like 60thou only.

In between comercial breaks they gave clips of fave moments of TIPR including the people kissing Bob and my fave, people falling when spinning the wheel...HA! All in all i think they could've gone two hours with all the people that were in that studio and all the great prizes they were handing out.

Killer prizes last night. Maybe they should put TPIR with the huge prizes in primetime. Regis who?

My favorite pricing game was the fabulous old-school Safe Crackers game, where they used to play the Pink Panther music while the rube...I mean, contestant was trying to figure out the intricate combination.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when, I remember TPIR would have occasional prime-time specials where Bob would dress up in a tux. Family Feud did the same thing, but with celebrities I think. I think this was about the time that Bob Barker was trying to relaunch Truth or Consequences or What's My Line or something as a prime-time show and it was a special lead-in during the summer.

By the way, the new Family Feud just isn't the same without the black-and-yellow board. I refuse to watch it. Well, that and because Louie Anderson's voice causes my pets to flee, but you know...

I love Louie's Feud. I also loved Richard's Feud but not Ray's (which puts me in the minority in the world of Feud Smarks anyway.) I sure hate that new "Card Sharks" though.

As for TIPR - Mountain Climber all the way.

Pretty much everyone named the great games of TPIR. TPIR is awesome. I loved it when I was 5. I love it now.

(An Aside: Match Game 74/78/81/PM/etc. F'N rules.)
