| #2 Posted on 29.7.10 1916.06 | Instant Rating: 6.43 | The first time I saw a commercial for these I posted a Facebook status that said something like, 'I love M&Ms, and I love pretzels, but that doesn't mean they have any business putting pretzels in M&Ms.' I think like 10 people "liked" my status so I know I'm not alone in that sentiment. I'm still scared to try them.
Not to thread jack, and this will probably make me sound like a hypocrite, but I ran across coconut M&Ms in a convenience store recently and I didn't hesitate for a second to buy them. And I loved them. I think there's precedence for that one though as Mounds have been around for awhile (and are probably my favorite candy bar) whereas I don't think I've ever heard of a candy bar or bite-sized candy with pretzels inside.

Haven't seen the pretzel M&Ms here yet. Only found the coconut ones at a candy store that imports stuff (a tip of the hat to hansen9j for the lead), so I'm guessing it'll be a while.

Pretzel intrigues me. Coconut sounds disgusting. Really, Canada is just treading water until Flamin' Hot Cheetos are finally available here.

I found the Pretzel M&Ms incredibly mediocre, and totally buy into the Whopper comparison.

Ah, so THAT'S what a Take 5 is. That sounds like a pretty interesting combination. Probably a little too much packed into one bar for my personal tastes but I can see how it could be pretty popular. Peanuts AND peanut butter? That's so crazy, it just might work!

It took me a few hours to see it. I sometimes don't remember to look at Twitter when I get home.
Having said that, yes, Pretzel M&Ms are available at Extra Foods - even the sketchy one by my apartment. And they're... pretty okay. It's nice that they're a little lower calorie than some of the other ones, but they counteract that by only selling them (for now) in big bags. If I was going to buy a big bag of M&Ms, I'd just throw all caution to the wind and get the superior peanut butter ones.

A regular size regular M&Ms is 240 calories and 47.9 grams. That's 5.01 calories / gram. A regular size pretzel M&Ms is 150 calories and 32.3 grams. So that's 4.65 calories / gram.
If the regular size pretzel M&M bag had as many as the regular size regular M&M bag, then it would have 222 calories. (Though the difference between the pretzel and say the peanut butter would probably be much larger).
The real trick is that the pretzel bag has about 1/3 less M&Ms in it. | Mike Zeidler

If Mars had filled the pretzel shell with chocolate and then covered that with the normal candy coating, I could see these going over better.
I pine for the day Mars figures out how to put peanut butter in the pretzel ball. It should be amazing.

You are correct - I just found the smaller bags here and it's quite obvious that there's a lot less in one of these bags. It feels like there's about 13 M&Ms in the pack (though they're each a fair bit bigger than the plain ones).
