For reference:

1) I did not compile this list myself. It was snagged by someone else from, where the tracks were listed for each soundtrack disc. Caveat emptor.

2) In the ongoing interview, the Rockstar rep said that not all of the music in the game is on the soundtrack CDs, and vice versa (there will be some content unique to each). Surprises may pop up on either end.

My thoughts:

* Emotion 98 may be the WORST. STATION. EVER. One song by Squeeze, but the rest will have me plunging Q-Tips into my ears. I'll listen through once to hear Fernando's bits and whatever commercials are on that station, then avoid it like the plague.

(Since most of the stations had buildings of their own in GTA3, here's a free idea for the next GTA after Vice: give players the ability to fire a rocket launcher at the transmitter for a given station and knock it out for a week or so.)

* Wildstyle has possibilities, as do Espantoso and V-Rock.

* They put a Go West song on the pop station and it's NOT "We Close Our Eyes?" Sheesh. The rest of City Flash is about what I expected.

* Wave looks like a decent mix, though including Spandau Ballet is an automatic deduction from this judge.

But let me get this straight... We have an 80's "New Wave" station with NO XTC, NO F'ING SPECIALS, no Elvis Costello, no English Beat, no General Public, no Madness, no Men At Work, no Missing Persons, no Talking Heads, no Ultravox, NO OINGO BOINGO, no OMD, no Adam Ant, no Art of Noise, no Fixx, no Violent Femmes, no Wall of Voodoo, no Nick Lowe, no Boomtown Rats, no Buzzcocks, no New Order, no Eurythmics, no Depeche Mode, no Devo, no B-52s, no Bow Wow Wow, no Soft Cell, no Ian Dury and the Blockheads, no Split Enz, no Selecter, no Cars, and no Police... but they included Corey Fucking Hart's "Sunglasses At Night." BLASPHEMY! There'd better be some surprises in the actual game.

(They did get the right Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Thomas Dolby tracks, though. That's two in their favor.)

What?! No Ronnie James Dio?! No DEVO?! No Haircut 100?!!
To be honest, I expected a little less of an eclectic mix for VC's soundtrack. A little more "Oh, I remember that!" and a little less "Who the hell is this?".

Good to see that Lazlow and Fernando are back. Can't lose with consistency. Also glad to see that Toni will be in her element. Sort of...

I dig the idea about taking down transmitters, or DJs... Hmm...

So, when does the PC version come out?

This game may actually make me turn off "Animal Crossing". The 29th can't get here soon enough.

You're nuts. How can you not be excited about killing people to the tune of "Sister Christian", the greatest song ever written about motoring, finding Mister Right and determining what you price for flight is? And it has "Fascinaation". Yeah, I'd always like some XTC, but while "No Language In Our Lungs" is an essential song to have in your album collection, I can live without being able to beat hookers to death to it. At least in video game form.

On other stations, I'm ecstatic that there's a possibility for "Too Young to Fall in Love", "Turn Up The Radio", "Yankee Rose", "Four Little Diamonds" (!!! No way! That's awesome! I have the damn Afterglow box set with that on it!), "Running With The Night", "Rockit" and best of all, "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" in the game. Perhaps this will finally restart public discussion into why Michael Jackson keeps singing "You're a vegetable!" in the middle of the song.

I only wish they'd managed to make the Beverly Hills Cop soundtracks into a station like they did with Scarface for the last one. "The Heat Is On", Axl's Theme and "The Neutron Dance" would have fit the game perfectly, I bet. Still, this is great.

C'mon, REALLY. There are certain songs that not only make me change the station, but also remove the station from my presets. This song is one of them. (Much of Rod Stewart's career output is in the same category.)

We don't need to bomb Iraq; we could just drop thousands of boom boxes playing "Sister Christian" into Iraq, and 95% of the populace would run screaming with horror into the night. That might be a violation of the Geneva Convention, come to think of it.

No Cheap Trick? No Clash? No Ramones? No Marshall Crenshaw? No Duran Duran or Culture Club? (Okay, skipping those two was a blessing.) Not even a token "Video Killed The Radio Star?"

I think it's great that there's an old school hip-hop station... oh! I was about to call for some new school, but then I realized, this game is set in the 80's, isn't it? In that case, awesome.

Hey, if you want more 80's flavor, wait for the PC version and drop in your own MP3s. I think the track list looks great.

I was about to talk my roommate into buying a PS2 and then GTA3 came out for PC... maybe I can talk him into it now (since I provide the Gamecube, Dreamcast, PS1 and N64 while he only offers a Sega Saturn).

That's weird. I've driven people from the room by killing the game radio and blastin "Sister Christian" while on a killing spree in GTA3. That and the entire Office Space soundtack.

But Night Ranger gives you that cool psycho, 5/6 of the way through "Boogie Nights" feel that we all strive for in our daily lives...

As for the missing bands? There's only so much room on a DVD. YOu wanted a game too, right? And maybe Bob Geldof and Elvis Costello didn't need the money.

I'm with you on Split Enz though.

Why all the hatorade on Emotion 98? Absolutely nothing on the PS2 (or any other system for that matter) will be as sweet as performing a drive-by while the stereo cranks "I TOUCHED THE RAYS DOWN IN AAAAAFRICA!"

Tonight stopped being about who is right and who is wrong - it became about two men wanting to prove who the better man is - for YOUR entertainment. And that, my friends, is the credo of SmackDown!"

In GTA3, Lazlo was with chatterbox because he got kicked off the Rock Station. Vice City happens in he 80's, so he's at that aformentioned Rock Station.

Remember, this is just the soundtrack. They may still have some talk radio in the game, but it would make a shitty soundtrack.

With poison running through your veins, and death marching solemnly towards you, heroic acts become more of a necessity as you see your time dwindling.

Vanquishing your enemies, making amends to those you have wronged, and leaving words of love and kindness for those around you become second nature as your own mortality looms

However, true strength lies not in these last desperate acts, but in the actions of one who has to get out of bed the next day and face the consequences of doing that which you believe is right.

I ran (so far away)

that commerical ruled all shades...perfect song to have for this..., but ya, they left off many, many great 80's bands.

this will be a dvd disc, so one could consider that they would get about 3-4 cd's worth of music [depending on how much space the game data takes up]

Raw rhymed with glory. Smackdown made me all shades of happy. WWE is getting good again. The crops?

Hell, yeah, “Billie Jean”! Whoo!!

No Styx, though? Dang. I would love to hear “Renegade” while mowing people down in GTAVC.

By the way, a helpful hint: listening to Styx's live album or the Bond 40th anniversary while playing GTA3 is fun as hell.

I never buy a new system teh day it comes out. The PSX and PS2, and now the xbox 360 all have taught me that bugs are bad. I'm going to wait till maybe spring 2007 when they have some decent games out before I make my purchase.
