That was so awesome. THAT is why I love baseball. Seeing all those great players, plus videos and images of some of the sport's greatest moments, was incredible. It actually brought a tear to my eye.

Right afterwards, there was a commercial saying baseball will announce what its most memorable moment was. I can't wait to see what it is.

You just can't find the kind of emotion in any other sport like you can in baseball.

I agree completely. I had a tear in my eye when the package was gone. No sport gets me like that like Baseball.

Man, that package was just INCREDIBLE, it made me more emotional about baseball than I have been in years. Looking back how great of an institution bseball once was and watching all of the great moments it's a shame to see what the sport has become. I guess we will always have history though.

It's a shame it was followed but one of the worst renditions of out National Anthem that I have ever heard. Call me picky, but someone who can't even get the words right PROBABLY shouldn't be "honoring" our country on such a large scale but we'll chalk it up to an honest mistake.

What made it better is that the players of today genuinely seemed to be enjoying not only being there, but having the opportunity to meet and interact with these heroes. I hope this sort of thing gives the players a sense of how important they could potentially be to the people who watch them play.

I think that Fox cut to a commercial when they had the tributes to Darryl Kile and Jack Buck. Totally disgraceful, considering that Buck's son was annocuning. Matt Morris's tribute was nice, though.

I also agree that the anthem sucked. Shakira should've sang it.

Who in the blue hell is Anastasia?? She's not even 2 am do-able.

Anybody else get worried when they introduced " an actor who has starred in Field of Dreams..." I was thinking: "oh frick..not Costner, AGAIN!". There was much rejoicing when I saw it was Ray Liotta.

I'm thankful that the "memorable highlights" did NOT include game 7 of the 1992 NLCS.... the doctor says I'm almost over it.

It's a good thing you didn't hear the Canadian anthem (I assume it wasn't on tv). While the guy didn't flub any words, he sang it in such a free-form manner that it was just as bad. It got us warmed up for a lousy Star Spangled Banner.

FWIW, you should have seen the look on Bob Uecker's face following the anthems. Boy, was he pissed (he really despises "performances" of the anthem).

Estragand: Singer. From Chicago, huge in Europe, just came out here, sucks the meat missile.

Bower: Shit, you'd think they'd learn from other examples and have her face a Jumbotron with the lyrics on it. "The rockets gave glare"?! Da hell?

I know it has no right on a 30 greatest moments list, but as far as the best moment I ever saw PERSONALLY, it was Griffey scoring from first base to end the 1995 Division Series. I've never seen ANYONE run as hard and as determined to plate the winning run. Simply incredible thing to watch in a tense game. As far as I was concerned, the good guys came out on top and all was right in the world.

I didn't feel the emotion with the package - if only because it was an attempt by baseball to make us believe the sport actually meant anything - when it hasn't since 1994. Just when they were STARTING to win me back over, the strike talk has killed any kind of emotional investment I can bring to it. Sorry baseball, until YOU care, I don't.

I think Barfield should probably be a starter, maybe over Devon White. And Lloyd Moseby should make the honourable mention list.
