I tried to use a table when I started the favorite theme song thread, but when I previewed it, a huuuuuuuge space appeared before the table, no matter how I aligned it. I'm still playing with it - if I figure it out, I'll send a PM to Guru and he can decide whether he wants to make it public knowledge or not.
Also, I tried using special characters to simulate the greater-than and less-than signs used in HTML code, and while it looked fine in the preview, it didn't work in the real post - the fourm took the special characters as the real deal, and I ended up having to delete my post.
BUT...
When I deleted my post, I could no longer reply in that thread at all. As well, when you look at my profile, the post isn't there anymore, but the "last post" column in the main screen in Site Feedback still said my name. That's probably not a huge deal, but I just wanted to let ya know!
The deleting posts is kind of wonky - it will show you as the last poster on a thread and not let you post again in the thread, thinking you are the last poster.
You can use & LT and & GT to make < and > if it would make code, just take the spaces out.
The table thing... I've had that problem to. Someone said I should be using a valign=top for the text. Is that what you are looking for?
If you put valign=top in the table cell in your cut-n'-paste signature code, it nicely aligns the text to the top - but, if you actually put a table in the post itself, it leaves the big-ass space, no matter how it's aligned. Maybe my table width was too big? I'll keep tryin'...
Mr. Z, I e-mailed my code to your kzim address - have a look and see what you think. I'll look around for the Terminal font - can't be THAT hard to find...
UGH. This reminds me of that ...AMO with the table that drove Z crazy.
I believe the quote was "Please don't send columns in HTML anymore. I had to spend hours deleting the crap that Microsoft calls HTML from your article..."
Or am I confusing two different times? =)
I only know that I can change; everything else just stays the same.
