PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Portland Trail Blazers fired general manager Kevin Pritchard less than an hour before the start of Thursday's NBA draft, according to The Oregonian newspaper.
Pritchard did not immediately respond to a phone message, and the Blazers did not comment.
According to the report on the Oregonian's website, Pritchard remained part of the group conducting Portland's draft. The Blazers had the 22nd and 34th selections.
Pritchard did a hell of a job building the Blazers and it's unfortunate that this is the thanks he gets. More than anything, he deserved a lot of credit for making the shrewd Camby trade that kept the Blazers in the playoff chase after Oden and Pryzbilla's knees turned to paper mache.
Cleveland would be VERY wise to keep their eye on Pritchard.
Perhaps it was the Noid who should have avoided me.
On Thursday, the NBA released the starting lineups for the 58th annual All-Star Game (February 15, 2009 in Phoenix), and Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard set an all-time vote record with 3.1 million people voting him into the All-Star Game. Huh.
