While one part of me says that the creative team has apparently hit rock bottom, another part of me tries to remember if I've ever heard of a wrestling angle like this. Even scarier, any guesses on who the male love interest is? *pleasenotcharliehass*

Shouldn't the writers spend more time thinking up creative storylines than ridiculous gimmicks which don't add anything to the show?

In the proud tradition of Eugene, the Boogeyman and Shelton's mama, this might be entertaining for a few weeks, but will soon get really old really quickly.
I guess this also means Jordan is out of the 'Cabinet,' if such a thing still exists. Unless his male love interest is actually JBL, which would be hilarious.
EDITED to add the obvious 'out of the Cabinet and out of the closet' joke.

It might be. I mean, the possibilty exists that a capable company could write entertaining material for that, but I just see the WWE copying old Burns and Smithers jokes from The Simpsons, poorly.
The only silver lining to this: At least it's happening on Smackdown. Can you guys imagine what Lawler would be like during shit like this?
I also echo Chill's questions.

I don't think the word "gay" was ever used, but the insinutation was clear. The WWF didn't present someone as "he's playing gay to freak you out" until Goldust.

He dressed and acted that way to throw off his opponents. In the ring, he was vicious... especially before coming to WWF. Thanks Vince for purposely trying to ruin another big name acquisition, simply out of revenge. Adonis, Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes, Tony Atlas, and many more were big stars for WWF's competition - and after signing with WWF, they were given embarrassing gimmicks in attempts to sabotage them and stick it to them. It's amazing Ric Flair didn't suffer through the same.
Count me as someone who doesn't understand this approach to business...

I think Adonis and Atlas need to be separate from Race and Rhodes. First, Race and Rhodes were more successful, and they also debuted in the late 80's WWF with those gimmicks. Adonis and Atlas wrestled in the mid 80's WWF before they got stuck with wearing a dress or being Saba Simba (Atlas actually used this gimmick in World Class before he used it in the WWF), as Adonis and Murdoch won the tag titles from Atlas and Johnson. Adonis and Murdoch as tag champs under Vince still seems weird. As for the humiliation of Adonis: Even if that was the purpose, it still was the biggest push of Adonis' career. ON a Top 5 North American card (not in match quality, but in terms of historical significance) in Mania III, Adonis had the 3rd, and possibly the the 2nd, biggest match on the card in his match against Piper.

It sounds pretty bad, but then wasn't OJ supposed to get a Dave Chappelle gimmick or somesuch about six months ago? That never really happened so I'll reserve judgment until this one comes to fruition.
