I'm going to list all the wrestlers whose names are on the WWE web site. It's spring cleaning time, and that means at least a few names will disappear off the WWE's payroll. This of course means that someone and their family will not have a steady stream of dough coming into their household, so while remembering that these are all real people, I'm opening up the floor to everyone to guess who are the most logical people to release (no limit).

SMACKDOWN

A-TRAIN - He does have potential, he just won't ever be a money-maker for the company. He's the guy you want to have around for putting new guys over.
BIG SHOW - A big world of potential, they just are not using him right. Say what you want about his weight, but Heyman was using him very well when Big Show won the title from Brock Lesnar.
BILL DeMOTT - Valuable because he can move fast and put on good matches (don't knock him if you don't watch his matches on Velocity). He could be over as a face in the right role, but he's getting old and he won't be around forever if they do keep him. Also, he's reportedly a good locker room leader.
BILLY KIDMAN - He's an untouchable, from what I can tell - even though I think he's highly overrated and has lost more than a few steps since his WCW days.
BRIAN KENDRICK - Great rising talent.
BROCK LESNAR - He's presently being used in the wrong role - being pushed too hard (he really shouldn't be speaking so often, but I guess they want him to improve and get comfortable speaking in front of big crowds). He's a keeper.
CHARLIE HAAS - He has wrestling talent but has not shown a lot of personality so far. They'll keep him, but I wouldn't.
CHAVO GUERRERO - Grade-A talent. Won't go much higher than where he is right now.
CHUCK PALUMBO - Very talented, we have not seen what he is capable of, since he joined the WWE. Give him time. He's the one guy out of all WCW's young wrestlers who was not sent down to the farm leagues and that says a lot.
CHRIS BENOIT - Keeper.
CRASH - Has proven he is entertaining in the ring, and his new role as a Moore-on will likely set on fire (along with Matt Hardy and Shannon Moore) sometime this summer.
DAWN MARIE - Fabulous eye candy, despite her age. I would keep her out of all the women, but I'd rather see her valet for a wrestler and do a lot of speaking. She reminds me of a new "Sensational" Sherri Martel.
EDGE - Ugh. Highly overrated. I'm glad he's not on TV right now, but he's best used in tag matches - as cliche as it is to say that.
EDDIE GUERRERO - Top talent. I'd like to see him back in a heel role and feuding with Brock Lesnar over the title all summer long.
FUNAKI - He's dispensable, but he puts on very good matches most of the time.
HARDCORE HOLLY - He won't be cut EVER out of his loyalty to the company and tenure.
HULK HOGAN - I can't tell if he's profitable or not, but he must be. He's over HUGE with the masses - nevermind whether internet fans like him or not.
JAMIE NOBLE - Could very used in a semi-big role, but he needs to alter his gimmick. I'd like to see him in Cena's place, just to see how capable he is of getting over. He could benefit from having a stable of his own and getting wins over heavyweights. I can see him being cut.
JOHN CENA - Very valuable, we have only just seen the tip of the iceberg. He's untouchable for this company.
JOHNNY STAMBOLI - He could be cut, but I like the FBI gimmick so far.
KURT ANGLE - Keeper.
MARK HENRY - Why is he still on the roster? Bring him back as a monster heel when Heyman returns, and have Lesnar batter the hell out of him. Either put him in a heel tag team with someone else who is big and fat, or release him.
MATT HARDY - Keeper. Will main event one day soon.
MR. AMERICA - N/A
NATHAN JONES - Everyone says cut him. I just want to know if he's ever shown the WWE that he can wrestle. Why did they get him if he can't? Just to steal him from WWA? Turn him heel and have the writers plan something interesting for him. If that fails, cut him.
NIDIA - Great talent, being underused.
NUNZIO - Grade-A talent. The FBI gimmick is the means to the end result of giving Nunzio a push. He's got at least another year with the company before they try cutting him.
REY MYSTERIO - Keeper, over huge with the fans.
RHYNO - Keeper, but how long will the fans keep loving him as a face? The company isn't doing anything with him right now, and that usually results in guys like Rhyno losing a lot of heat with the crowd.
RIKISHI - Cut him, but they won't. They'll keep him out of company loyalty and tenure.
RODDY PIPER - So far, so good.
SABLE - Cut her or put her with a wrestler. Useless even then.
SEAN O'HAIRE - Jury is out, but they won't cut him. He looked promising in WCW.
SHANNON MOORE - Great stuff here, but he could get cut within the next year.
SHELTON BENJAMIN - He's great but might not have enough charisma. The jury is out.
TAJIRI - He could be cut.
TORRIE WILSON - I would cut her. Useless as hell and not as pretty as they want us to believe.
TAZZ - Top talent as an announcer. He's not going anywhere.
UNDERTAKER - They'll keep him forever and ever out of company loyalty and tenure.

RAW

AL SNOW - I can see him being cut, but he does have a lot of tenure. Deserves to stay, but he's never been used much or even well.
BATISTA - Very impressive in the ring, but not a lot of diversity in his moveset. He's all power, he's staying for good.
BOOKER T - Keeper, not going anywhere.
BRADSHAW - Cut him, but they won't. They'll keep him out of company loyalty and tenure.
BUBBA RAY DUDLEY - He's here for now.
CHIEF MORLEY - I wouldn't be surprised to see him cut, but he is a master at selling in the ring.
CHRIS JERICHO - Untouchable.
CHRIS NOWINSKI - He could get cut, but that would be stupid right now. If he doesn't improve much, then cut him a year from now. Very charismatic though, so he deserves a chance.
CHRISTIAN - Awesome talent, he'll have to work hard at getting over with the fans to meet his talent level. Might suffer from having too much potential and not enough ability to get over with all of his competition.
D-VON DUDLEY - He's here for now.
ERIC BISCHOFF - Could get cut.
GOLDBERG - Should be cut, but I'd save him if they're going to restart WCW.
GOLDUST - Jury is out. I can see them cutting him for no reason, but he's probably safe.
IVORY - On the chopping block. She's 40 or older already, and I like her as a total package, but she might not be seen that way by the WWE head office.
JACQUELINE - She's cuttable.
JAZZ - I like her, but she's cuttable.
JAMAL - Cut or change the clothes and gimmick.
KANE - Cuttable, but they won't. He's very overrated, but he's also somewhat over. Is it his entrance that is over or him?
KEVIN NASH - Cuttable, but they won't.
LANCE STORM - Awesome talent, but they could cut him within the next year.
LILIAN GARCIA - Replaceable, but she's here for now.
MAVEN - Cuttable.
MOLLY HOLLY - Cuttable.
RANDY ORTON - Showed a lot of promise and talent - he's the future of this company. They're keeping him no matter what, and we already know that.
RIC FLAIR - Cuttable but he's good in his role right now.
RICO - Cuttable, given his age. However, he's over with the crowd amazingly enough, despite not being used much or well.
ROB VAN DAM - Over huge. He's untouchable.
ROSEY - Cut or change the clothes and gimmick.
SCOTT STEINER - Cut or turn mega-heel and give him a valet or partner (ala Jericho with Christian)
SHAWN MICHAELS - Great with Jericho, but otherwise cuttable. They won't. They'll keep him out of company loyalty and tenure.
SPIKE DUDLEY - Next in line at the chopping block. Bumps like a crazy mofo though, so I'd keep him.
STACY KEIBLER - Cut. Annoying, but very nice eye candy.
STEVEN RICHARDS - Cut. Good talent, but he's a dime a dozen right now. Put him in a tag team with Steiner, so Richards can carry the majority of the matches.
STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN - Cut him, but they won't.
TERRI - Cut.
TEST - Cut. He'll never get over enough to justify keeping him around.
THE HURRICANE - Untouchable right now. How long will the superhero gimmick last for?
THE ROCK - Untouchable.
TOMMY DREAMER - Standing at the chopping block. I haven't seen anything so far in his WWE stay that has impressed me. He might be useful as a road agent or behind the scenes.
TRISH STRATUS - The only woman on RAW who has impressed me as a wrestler. She's untouchable, but what would they do with her if they got rid of the Women's division?
TRIPLE H - Untouchable, duh. He's not going anywhere.
VICTORIA - I can see them dumping her when the women's division deep-sixes.
WILLIAM REGAL - I see them cutting him when he returns. He's very talented on the mic and in terms of personality. Good talent in the ring also, but he won't get too over - too many people are standing in his way, so he can't ever climb high enough.

The amazing thing is that SO MANY talents are under contract - This list has 79, but I myself wouldn't count Tazz or Garcia. Looks like Rodney Mack isn't here, and they are supposed to be bringing in Ultimo Guerrero - wow.

They could safely cut about 20 wrestlers, but then would be giving some decent performers to TNA - or would they?

I'd say they could cut:
Kidman, Dawn Marie, Hardcore Holly, Mark Henry, Rikishi, Sable, Torrie, Al Snow, Bradshaw, Bischoff, Jaqueline, Maven, Molly, Spike, Steven Richards, Terri, Test, Dreamer, Crash, and DeMott without giving away much of anything marketable. The problem is that a lot of these folks seem like they'll be kept on w/ the company out of loyalty, and someone like Maven is not exactly costing them a lot of money in the first place.

PS - I like some of these guys, but they wouldn't really be missed all that much, given how much they are on TV.

They won't let Big Show go. He may not be the most over guy, but I think I read he has a big multi-million dollar contract and it will cost a hella lot to let him go.

Most of the loyal veterans in the list are presumed to be safe, but I think now would be as good a time as any to offload people like Bob Holly and Rikishi. Plus there are others not on this list who could be cut. Other than that, I mostly agree.

Now can u dig that

Knowing the WWE, they'll probably cut guys with developmental deals instead of guys that aren't pulling their weight with the Big Time.

10 guys I'd cut: Bill DeMott, A-Train, Mark Henry, Bob Holly, Rosey, Jamal, Jacqueline, William Regal, Dawn Marie, Nathan Jones. I didn't list Big Show cuz of his contract.

chill- I'm surprised you think Jazz is "cuttable." She is the woman's champ, after all, and one of the better wrestlers in that division.

First thing I did when I started my WWE game in EWR: Cut all the women & the hosses, shitcan the brand extension and sign some developmental guys. Worked like a charm.

I recomend the real WWE do the same.

I only said that Jazz is cuttable because if she were cut, the product overall would not suffer. I happen to enjoy her matches as well as Ivory's - much more than Trish, Torrie, Lita, Jacqueline, etc.

It's true that the WWE's roster on their website is not complete.

If I had to cut 10 talents who are used or appear regularly on TV (and I'm ignoring the women, because I doubt the WWE is committed to keeping that division anyway), here would be my list:

Rodney Mack
Rikishi
Bradshaw (he appears often when he's not injured)
Jamal
Rosey
Test
Bubba Ray Dudley
D-Von Dudley
Jerry Lawler
Jim Ross

...And just for fun, I would KEEP Jackie Gayda NO MATTER WHAT, because I expect she'll get a lot of crowd heat whenever she returns and be the object of many derrogatory chants. She will prove to be an effective valet for someone, especially if they allow her to fire back verbally at the fans - just keep her out of the ring!!!

If Jim Ross is really that good at his Talent Relations job, then keep him there and off my TV. This is my opinion, and it seems as if the board is split on this issue. He seems to not pay much attention to the matches he's supposed to be calling, and when he is calling the matches, his vocabulary is glaringly limited to the same six or seven colloquialisms from Okalahoma. He doesn't know what most wrestlers' finishing moves are called or is too lazy to point them out when they are executed. There ARE other people in the business who would be more talented and effective in selling the on-screen product than JR. His time has passed, and he hurts the product by sticking around. I, for one, will not be happy when he returns to RAW. I'd much rather he and Stone Cold switch roles, because JR as a co-GM of RAW would make more compelling TV with Bischoff, than Stone Cold will. If the best the writers/Vince can come up with in this new angle is Stone Cold giving stunners every other week and doing polls with the crowd as to "If you wanna see this match happen, gimme a hell yeah...", then I think I'll continue to change the channel when Austin and JR are on my screen. Try something new for once and not something that you've beaten to death over the last five years.

Guys like Maven are worth keeping - as pointed out - because of their low pay. Someone like Mark Henry, on the other hand, could still be useful (as a "take-no-sh*t" heel, IMO) and he makes too much money for the cut to be justified. For that exact reason, I'm wondering how much they're paying Test - they don't give up trying to push him down our throats, each time in a different way, every few months. They must be trying to get a lot for the money they're paying him. If not, then he's got compromising photos of someone high up in the company.

I think Stevie Richards is close to being axed, although if they used him better he'd be a great talent. He's a personal favorite, but I'd bet he's next.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Mark Henry, Nathan Jones and ALL THE TOUGH ENOUGH TALENT EXCEPT NIDIA were axed as well.

Instead of just cutting wrestlers, why not give them say 2 weeks to go out there and try to get a good stong reaction from the fans. Austin, Rock and others that are very popular with the fans have said that they are pretty much being themselves out there and not fake characters. Before releasing someone, let them go out and be the character they want to. Every wrestler must have ideas for what could be done with themselves, especially the ones who are not happy or are not currently on tv.

Have one segment on each show devoted to this idea. 2 wrestlers go out and do what they want to do for about 2 or 3 weeks. At the end of the time period, hopefully atleast one of the wrestlers will be getting over with the crowd and the other one will unfortunately be released. Atleast this way the wrestlers have a chance to try to prove themselves. And as for the segments that don't work out, they can just be forgotten and not mentioned just like some of the real angles the WWE has started for a few weeks and then have just disappeared.

Unfortunately, I believe that most firings are based on politics or behaviour problems. Talent rarely comes into the case - they're just sent down to the developmental leagues if that's what the problem is.

You'll never see the Tough Enough kids cut as long as there's competition out there to grab them up. As long as people connect Maven to the WWE's reality show, giving him to another company would have the same result that Alundra Blaze going to WCW to dump the title in the garbage would have.

You also have to be careful not to let go of people who can pop a crowd without much or any talent. That's why I say Rikishi is not someone to get rid of, regardless of how much I may hate him.

It'd be interesting to know what some of these guys getting cut are making. A lot of those contracts that are ending or have ended are 3-5 year ones signed back when WCW was taking over (or at least, still a risk) and the WWF was willing to give anything to make sure the talent wouldn't jump ship. Now the extensions are coming up, and it looks like the talent are given the choice of a huge pay cut on a re-negotiation or else getting lost quick.

Then you shouldn't list Mark Henry, either.

I wouldn't make many outright cuts to the wrestlers. I'd send some, like Rosey and Jamal back to the developmentals. Jones should have been sent there as well, like they planned originally. If it wasn't for the deportation, he would've still debuted around the same time, but with a hell of a lot more ring polish.

If there was people I would cut, it'd be the writers.

Rikishi may pop the crowd, but is anyone really tuning into WWE programming to see him stick his big ass on someones face? I really hope not. But then again if they are, he's not totally useless.

How about putting Mark Henry in Team Angle when he returns? He wouldn't have to wrestle often or much at all, to start out with. Perhaps there's a legit chance that Kurt might be able to teach Henry a few things about mat wrestling... I know it's a stretch, but hey you know they're going to use him eventually. Might as well have his Olympic merit go to some good use. With Paul Heyman backing Mark Henry and being his mouthpiece, who knows what might happen?

hmmm thats a good idea, if were a writer on the wwe creative staff u would be fired and anything u wrote would be burned, but that would be kinda cool with the olympic theme, well one thing i would like to see would be a steiner angle fued, u know since steiner has amatuer wrestling background, and u know kurt can pull a good match out of anyone, but they would have to have steiner as the heel, and kurt as the face, hmmmmm let me quit im being creative and we all know that thinking for yourself can be dangerous, hmmmm they could pair him up with teddy long, speaking of teddy long u notice that he gets more heat than HHH, and since the wwe is on a nostalga trip where is SLICK?

There's still a good 3 years left on that contract of Mark Henry. That's got to be one of the biggest busts ever. Ten years, big money for each year and what's he done? At least with Big Show they've gotten some Main Events out of him and he's a good PR guy.

It's hard to know who to cut because we don't know what everyone is making. People I'd think about cutting loose would be Rodney Mack, Bradshaw, Hardcore Holly, Crash Holly, Johnny Stamboli, Jacqueline, Linda Miles, Nathan Jones, Bill DeMott, Terri and Three Minute Warning.

I see those people I mentioned as people who really don't add much to the program of have the potential to add much to the programs anymore.
