We'll see how smart they really are...

Big names in news put their careers into 'Jeopardy!'
Associated Press

NEW YORK -- Think folks like Tim Russert, Tavis Smiley, Anderson Cooper, Ari Fleischer, Al Franken and Bob Woodward are smart? They'll have a chance to prove it.
Cooper

They're among 15 "power players" signed up to play Jeopardy! in a special weeklong edition of the game that will be broadcast in May, it was announced Monday.

The game show will be in Washington to tape the segments early next month. Each contestant will be playing for charity -- with the winner each day getting a $50,000 jackpot.

Other contestants include Ashleigh Banfield, Maria Bartiromo, Aaron Brown, Gretchen Carlson, Tucker Carlson, Kweisi Mfume, Peggy Noonan, Keith Olbermann and Christine Todd Whitman.

I think my money is on Russert and Noonan...

If I was a betting man, I'd put my money on Noonan as well.

It would be great television if Franken & Fleischer ended up on the same show...

In the meantime, Brain-Terminal.com (I love these guys, thanks Fark) has its own brand new political game show.

There will be some serious shit-talking going on here by me when the liberals win.

Of course, either the cons will claim the game had a "liberal bias" (it's so obvious! Alex Trenbek is a Canadian. And he speaks French!) or that they don't need to know all that fancy intellectuallism that those unamerican liberals think makes them so great.

I consider myself an intelligent man, but I'd much rather live in a country run my benevolent idiots who don't care to tell me what to do then in one run by a bunch of Harvard-educated Cambridge busybodies. Good policy has very little to do with intelligence, I think, and very much to do with morality. Hence the utter failure of liberals to govern effectively.

Furthermore, I'd pit the septuagenerian WFB against any of these people.

Edit: Even better! Moe, who are the liberals here? It looks to me like Franken's the only one (other than the execrable Kweisi Mfume). Unless you're conceeding that these mainstream press folks are liberal...?

I'll put two bits down on Olbermann...but I'm much more interested in seeing Cooper and Banfield fall flat on their faces. Russert'll finish a close second to Keith.

What do you think of the certainly non-benevolent idiots running the country right now who seems to enjoy nothing more than telling people what to do?

"The Republican National Committee announced today that the Republican Party is changing its emblem from an elephant to a condom. The Republican committee chairman explained that the condom more clearly reflects the party's stance today, because a condom accepts inflation, halts production, precludes a next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and offers a sense of security while you're actually getting screwed."

Both parties want to control, just different things. The Democrats want to run business and evil corporations. They also want to mandate that everything moral is relative The Republicans want to run your sex life and dictate your morality. They want to mandate that while you can't screw except in prescribed ways, business can screw you any style it wants.

Of course this is a simplistic exaggeration that really only applies to the leadership but hey, we go along with it. That is the beauty of having Congress controlled by one party and the White House by another, neither side can do as much harm.
