While we're lamenting TV shows being cancelled (I will truly miss Futurama), how about Bill Maher's Politically Incorrect? I loved this show, only during the hyper-patriotism of today's times, he became very unpopular. Hey, the show is called Politically Incorrect. Anyone else gonna miss this show?

I liked the show when it was on Comedy Central. But as soon as it moved to ABC, Maher seemed to become less funny and more condesending. "What? You're a minority with conservative views? Shame on you. Don't you know any better?" Then there was the time he argued with Bishop Don Magic Juan over the difference between a prostitute and a whore. He argued with a FREAKING PIMP over that!

Thing is, Maher was pretty funny on Dennis Miller a few weeks back. Maybe the end of PI can be a blessing in disguise and Maher can move on to something different that works for him.

Personally I love the show format (I likes my discussion/debate), I just didn't like Bill Maher. I'll second Tragic's opinion that he became too condescending near the end. They should have just ditched him and kept the format.

Of course the real slap in the face is that it's being replaced by a show hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. I just sense bad things from this.

The idea of getting four different people from different segments of society with different views and letting them discuss current events is a great format for entertaining TV. However, it only works if let said different people GET A FREAKING WORD IN EDGEWISE FROM TIME TO TIME. Somewhere alsong the way Bill decided this was going to be "The listen to Bill Maher talk about legalizing drugs hour," instead of "Politically Incorrect." If he got a condesending quip in now and again, that's one thing (and would probably be pretty funny), but when he takes up half of every show berating his guests for being against legalized pot, it gets pretty old, pretty quick.

It's a shame, because I would see the lineup, think "cool, Snoop Dogg and Pat Buchanen (or whoever) are going to be on. That should be interesting." Then I'd watch for 10 minutes, and flip the channel after it became apparent (yet again) that I was going to spend the show not listening to Buchanen and Snoop duke it out, but listening to Maher go off on his schtick for half and hour.

I'm not sure if he does it anymore, but almost everytime I watched that show for maybe the first quarter of it's run or so, they'd always put the "less than intelligent/one of these things is not like the other" guest on Bill's right.

For example, if the guests on tonight's show were the Vice-President's wife, the CEO of Newsweek, Jesse Jackson, and Coolio, you just KNEW they were gonna put Coolio in that seat to Bill's right. They did the same thing to Randy Savage too. They didnt do it every single time, but maybe 7 out of 10 or shows would be like that. Anyone else notice that?

The show had a great concept but a terible host. Maher is a condescending A-hole and anybody who didn't share his views was treated like a 10 year-old who had to ride the short bus to school. He thought, because he had a TV Show, he was untouchable and could get away with anything he wanted to saw. I am surprised the show lasted this long but there is something to look forward to when PI ends....

The new Jimmy Kimmel show will begin~!

I agree with Tragic 1, the show was good on Comedy Central, but sucked once it moved to ABC. When it was on Comedy Central, it almost seemed more of a goof on serious political discussion roundtable shows. They had funny moments on there. But when he moved to ABC, it seemed on more and more nights to be attempting to be an actual serious political discussion roundtable show. One thing I have no interest in seeing is celebrities attempting to talk seriously about politics. You had an unintentional funny moment every once in a while, but mostly you just had five idiots talking without a clue. Also, Maher started taking himself way too seriously (must have read his own press), and I think he may believe now that he actually has a good political mind.

I attended a live taping of PI in Los Angeles during the 2000 US Election, which made it pretty interesting. But Bill was a wacky little fellow, with his makeup, and that he runs instead of walking everywhere.

I agree that it became formulaic with it being more Bill Maher instead of his guests.

On another note altogether, I am currently finding myself watching the final episode of Ally McBeal instead of RAW or Hockey. Kind of like wrestling, this was a good show at its inception with neat quirky characters until the writing became horrid and the show became too predictable(and anti-man).

Whole lotta shows ending lately, it seems...
