We have changed our PM mechanism and you need to know about it.
Until today, "deleting" a private message would do just that - it would remove the message from our database tables. This no longer occurs - messages are archived so you won't see them again, but they are retained in case the administrators ever need to see them. Examples of when we would examine archived messages include when we notice PM abuse or receive reports use of the PM system to harrass other members of the board.
PRIVATE MESSAGES ON THIS BOARD ARE NEVER TOTALLY PRIVATE. OUR PM SYSTEM IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR EMAIL, INSTANT MESSAGING OR OTHER MORE APPROPRIATE DELIVERY MECHANISMS.
Admins have always had the ability to look at any entry in our database and continue to do so. If you are putting something in a PM you don't want people other than you and your recipient to read, please consider using email, AIM, Gchat or other manner of communication instead of our PM system.
As always, admins are available and will take necessary action if you feel that you are being attacked or trolled via PM - or on the board itself, for that matter. Feel free to send us a PM  or instant message or email.

Aaron must have done that. I think I'll change it back because it looks really lame.
Look, they're not PUBLIC messages. They're not meant to be seen by the public and they're still not. I just don't want you thinking it's, like, as secure as email because obviously it's not and it never was, especially now that "deleted" doesn't actually mean "deleted."
As always, we trust the users of this board to have at least half a brain and act accordingly.
