After today's win over Detriot, my Tribe is down to 3 to clinch. They could be dangerous if they just hit. And I pity you Bosox fans. Don't let the Evil Empire" win the division.

(Love the typo, I do that all the time. I like the result though - fitting.)

Detroit must now falter the next two nights. That way, when my daughter and I are at the Tribe game on Friday we can watch them clinch. (edit - awwwww crap. Detroit's off on Thursday. Phooey!)

As a Tribe fan, I am *so* not looking forward to facing the Yankees or the Red Sox. Given our pitching, anything can happen. Especially riding the CC and FAUSTO! train. Westbrook and Byrd feel so much like Russian Roulette this month - yikes.

Hot Damn if we didn't grow middle relief this year. Perez is fantastic, Mastny has been solid, and after a rocky start Jensen Lewis is the MAN.

Cubs - Tribe in the Series! FEEL IT!

I would just like to point out that the Nats can do no worse than 68-94 (0.420) as of today.

Watching the Cubs game - looks Like Junior Griffey's done - I would say - for the season - I'd guess severe groin pull.

I'm completely baffled as to how this can be happening. I mean...the Yankees went into the All-Star break with a 43-43 record and 10.5 games behind the Red Sox. Then again, I remember having to live through 1995 when the Angels were up 11 in the division in August and would up losing the division. But this Boston collapse definitely ranks up there.

Is it unreasonable for me to think that if the Red Sox cough up the division after being 10.5 up at the break and end up losing out in the ALDS that Terry Francona should be fired and chased out of town by an angry mob? I mean, come on! We're venturing into Grady Little territory with this nonsense here.

If the Red Sox choke the division and get the WC, and then in the playoffs Manny comes back from flying his invisible airplane or whatever the fuck he does when he takes a month off and leads them to a World Series no one (except maybe Yankee fans) will remember who the hell won the division.

Manny's actually hurt this time with the same injury that has ended Bedard of Baltimore's season. The team doesn't seem to want the divisin title and has been playing that way for the past few games. Now, if they get bounced quickly, it might be the GM who brought us 5 years of Drew and no bench that gets run out of town on the rail rather than Francona. Now, if Detroit hadn't fallen apart in Cleveland this week, then the bridges would be getting closed now. Sick as it sounds, I'd give the Red Sox a better chance of winning a Game 5 in the ALDS or a Game 7 in the ALCS on the road rather than at home. Fenway would be too uptight, and the Red Sox franchise has gone into Jacobs Field and won a Game 5 and gone into the Bronx in a Game 7 and emerged victorious. As for Anaheim, the Red Sox seem to get 1/3 of the fans in the stadium anyway.

Actually, if the Yankees come back and win the division this year it will be 10 years in a row that they came in first in the American League East. I'm pretty damn sure we'll hear about that every single day until they lose it.

Personally as a Yanks fan, I could give a crap about being the East champ or the wild card winner. The thought of winning the division has a nice feel to it as well as NY has played down the stretch, but back when they were 14.5 games out and playing like ass, I sure would have thrown a party for them to get in as the WC. If I remember correctly, NY dominated Detroit in 2006, and all Yankee fans (including myself) were estatic to see Detroit fall to the WC and have to play the Yanks...we all remember how THAT ended up. I look at the Tribe, and even though NY swept them 6-0 during the season, anyone with a brain has to look at CC and Carmona and know that that we're not talking about a patsy. Anaheim has a proud history of kicking Yankee ass, so either with the WC or division, I am ok, as long as everyone's healthy/rested.

Thanks to Detroit and Seattle for continuing their losing ways....we Yankees fans (and at this rate probably, Boston fans also) appreciate it greatly.

Sox clinch playoff spot tonight with win and Detroit loss. I believe the magic number to clinch the division is now at 6.

I guess Bonds and Kent got into it in the dug-out in San Diego. Finally it seems all of the off-field comments throughout the years are coming back to haunt Kent and the team.
