AFC

1. Tennessee (13-2) SOUTH CHAMPIONS, 1st round bye, clinched #1 seed
2. Pittsburgh (11-4) NORTH CHAMPIONS, 1st round bye, clinched #2 seed

3. Miami (10-5) East leader, tied NE head-to-head & div record (3-2) & common games (9-2), beats NE on Conf record (7-4)
4. Denver (8-7) West leader, will win the division if they beat SD, otherwise they are out.
5. Indianapolis (11-4) clinched #5 seed
6. Baltimore (10-5) beat NE on Conf record (7-4), Win and they clinch the #6 seed

7. New England (10-5) lost to Mia and Bal on Conf record (6-5), will clinch the East with win over Buf AND NY Jets win over Mia
8. NY Jets (9-6) They need to beat Mia AND have NE lose to Buf win the Div by Div record in the 3-way tie (they would be 5-1 to two 3-3s)
9. +++Buffalo (7-8) Beat Hou by Conf record (5-6), beat SD
10. San Diego (7-8) Beat Hou by Conf record (6-5), lost to Buf, will win the West with win over Den
11. +++Houston (7-8) Lost to Buf & SD by conf record (5-7)

Yup. I got my South teams confused. I'm glad there are so many playoff spots up for grabs on the last week of the season.

If every other team in the league other than the Lions and an AFC team dies in a fire or something, the Lions could make it to the Super Bowl. 6:1 on Detroit getting lost and having to forfeit the game anyway if it happened.

I went with the stats posted on http://the-w.com/redirect/http://nationalchamps.net/NCAA/database/index.htm . I went as impartial as I could be, if I wasn't then Nebraska wouldn't be listed for 1997.
