Giles possibly to LA for Odalis Perez and two prospects, neither of whom is even in AAA yet? This would be monumentally stupid for the Pirates to do, for one, they aren't even out of the NL Central race yet, and are in fact playing their best ball of the season. Two, Giles is without a doubt one of the ten best players in the majors, even though no one knows about him, and trading him for a marginal pitcher like Perez and two prospects is just silly.
Also, I heard on the local Pittsburgh sports show tonight that the Cubs are inquiring about Aramis Ramirez. I'll admit he hasn't put up big power numbers, and he does have a fat contract, but he's still on pace for about 100 RBI, and the Pirates are only 4 back of the Cubs in the Central.
Something about all of this stinks, IMHO.
spf2119 is the smartest wiener of them all, and I should have never doubted him about HHH.
Off the top of my head comes the game in 1985 where the Mets got bombed by the Reds 27-6. Pete Rose definitely picked the wrong day to take the under. Actually the mother of all one-sidedness took place in 1975 when the Pirates beat the Cubs 22-0.
