It was weird, at the beginning of the Giants/Pads game tonight, that Krukow was talking about how the Pads hope to have the same kind of immediate success that the Giants had in Pac Bell. Only, he didn't call it Pac Bell. He called it the new name, that I already don't remember.
SBC Park. Rolls off the tongue wonderfully, doesn't it?

In the context of baseball, the use of drugs hurts only the player. In the context of baseball, the use of alcohol hurts only the player. In the context of baseball, womanizing hurts whom? Maybe the wife of the player? In the context of baseball, felonies are crimes against society, not against baseball. In the context of baseball, gambling is the only crime against baseball.
Gambling, in the context of baseball, is a capital offense and Rose has richly earned-- hell, he agreed to-- his death sentence. Let him hang.

God, the views out into the outfield are terrible. Looks like old, decrepid buildings like in the South Bronx. But I do see cranes out in the distance. Are they demolishing some of those warehouse-looking eyesores and replacing them with "touristy" things, like hotels and restaurants? I hope they are developing the area outside the park. There's just a big void in center field, so it almost "forces" you to see the gaping hole there and the first thing that grabs your eye are those ugly buildings.

Yeah, the ballpark is the start of the East Village renovation / reconstruction. What I didn't get good pictures of are the buildings like the Parkloft condos which are being built directly behind the park at the park. You can check out a lot of the real estate in the area here http://www.sdcondo.com/downtown.html - I have no personal relationship with this guy, but he's had a great series of web pages for Mission Valley (discontinued) and Downtown Condos. If you're looking for a Condo in San Diego, check out Lew, and let him know some complete stranger is shilling for him.
Willful ignorance of science is not commendable. Refusing to learn the difference between a credible source and a shill is criminally stupid.
Just get me into the new yard. I'll be going to my first game of 20 at PETCO Park on Tuesday. I watched baseball in San Diego/Jack Murphy/Qualcomm for 30 years. Lots of it was pretty bad, some of it was good (like 1984, 1996 and 1998). When the Chargers got the City to enclose the east end of the stadium, it ruined the place for baseball. Now, the Padres have their own place, and, as a fan, I can't be happier.
I'll first say that I completely disagree regarding Ichiro, who was very valuable for NY last season, and looks great to this point in spring training. Star-power sure, but it sure looks like a good acquisition.
