Former WWE , WCW and ECW wrestler Perry Saturn will make his wrestling return after suffering a very serious injury this past April. This was a very serious, and private situation, which he did not want public until he was able to recover.
We are proud to announce that he has recovered, and will return to the wrestling ring on Sept 17th for USA Pro (Jamaica, NY @ The Amazura Concert Hall).
In April of 2004 Perry Saturn was driving his girlfriend to work when he heard what he thought was an argument next to a vehicle. When he approached the vehicle, he saw two men trying to restrain a woman as they were raping her. Without hesitation, he grabbed both men off her, and started fighting with them. As he was able to get the woman free from her attackers, he felt a burning sensation in his neck. He thought originally it was a cut stemming from a punch. However, he learned soonafter he was shot three times in the neck with a 25 caliber handgun.
Perry Saturn now has a steel plate and 3 stainless steel screws where his C-5, C-6 and C-7 vertebra in his neck were badly injured. The good news is that after a very tough and extensive amount of physical therapy and training, he is able to return to wrestling. When you think about it, it's amazing he is even alive, or even able to walk!
Unfortunately, we learned that he did not have medical insurance, and has incurred quite a bit of medical expenses. I'm sure if needed, the wrestling community will open up their arms and assist if the expenses become overwhelming.
As far as his attackers, one man was arrested for attempted murder and rape. That case is still ongoing. No word if the other individual was arrested as well.
Thats pretty noble of Perry. I wonder what Kronus is doing these days.
 I miss the GWF.

1) The shots could have easily ruptured the jugular vein, causing him to bleed out, or one of the arteries leading to the brain, causing him to bleed out AND die from lack of blood to the brain.
2) How none of the bullets, or the fragments from his vertebrae, managed to actually hit his spinal cord and cause permanent nerve damage... that's just incredible luck.
The fact that he was shot with a .25, which is essentially a pea shooter, probably helped a great deal, as it would have had a really small entry wound and not a huge radius of damage for each shot. Additionally, the bullet would be small enough not to go through the vertebrae and hit the spinal cord. Still, the fact that he escaped with little to no nerve damage is amazing.
Best of luck to him in recovering. Always enjoyed his wrestling, and, if nothing else, he deserves well-wishes for breaking up a rape when most people would've just walked by. | Guru Zim

I'm glad he has recovered. What a horrible cost for bravery.

In a time of panic and emergency one sence of self well being dissapears and only the well being of people around them matters. At least to anybody who's got any soul.
I think the WWE and Vince McMahon should offer to help Saturn out by employing him for a year. It could make for a good real-life-hero story, help Saturn out with financing (he could sock away and invest some money) and it would help fans of Perry Saturns work (right here) see his career end on a good note. Not a mop.

See, I don't think that Vince should be running WWE as a charity. Hiring him for a year just because of his noble deed (and I'm not giving Saturn enough credit for this) doesn't make enough sense. Now, if they were to pull a Jon Lieber and hire him with a look towards an in-ring return, but have him rehab (if need be) and work backstage, that'd be cool. I think he deserves more reward than he'd get from anyone for this, but let's at least do things for the right reasons, not just with the best intentions.
Of course, this isn't to say "Vince, don't hire him". I think Perry's still useful as a wrestler, and any paychecks would more than likely be MUCH appreciated.

That said, the political powers in WWE may not be good friends with Saturn like one or two are with X-Pac. Whether he returns to a WWE ring or not, I'm betting McMahon will do what looks to be the humanitarian thing (assuming the entire story is true) and help out Saturn, much like Saturn is said to have helped that woman. VKM helped out Davey Boy long after the Bulldog had left the company, and I believe he paid for Regal's rehab without any stipulations. Now that I think about it, I've read and seen several interviews where former wrestlers have talked about Vince helping them out with medical bills.
I wondered earlier in the year where Saturn had gone when he disappeared from TNA without explanation.
The fact that he didn't want any publicity during the whole ordeal is also highly commendable. He must have wanted to get through it on his own strength. You gotta admire that. A true testament to his character.
