I just have to say that I have been really impressed with the video packages made up for Summerslam. They look good, the music fits, and on the whole this is just really well put together, and really adds to the "important" feeling of the PPV. Also, the camera people have been doing a good job, especially last night. I just want to recognize these people's hard work that might get overlooked while we're watching the show.

Hell, yeah! The video packages rock! They give us the quick SummerSlam card, while also providing some brief back-history-- and they do it in an entertaining and innovative way! I agree with you, major props to the men and women behind them.

I agree about everything but the music. I don't know what it is, but there's something about using mediocre music to hype their pay per views that pales in comparison to them doing their own music (which is much funnier). Rant over!

Props to the sound and video crew.

On a side note, anyone else notice the absence of video packages pre-RAW/Smackdown? I haven't seen any after the credits play in awhile.

The video packages that are done for every PPV are usually fantastic. (This year's No Way Out a glaring exception.) That's one thing the WWE does better than anyone else though.

I read the title of this thread and was certain that I'd finally been recognized as the (evil) genius I am. You've let me down, people.

Seriously though, WWE has always been great at the video packages. My all-time favorite pre-PPV video, though, is the ('99?) Summerslam "Highway to Hell" bit with Austin and Undertaker.

I like the video package for SummerSlam. They have that MTV Music Video Award/Movie Award feel. Dare I say, they used the same woman for the voice overs. Whatever the case, I just get this feel that it's going to be an all out war.

The WWE is usually good with their video packages, as noted before.

I know that. I was just saying that because it's the first time they had done it. You'd think they'd go with the same old way, with the same old guy. Changing over is refreshing.

Best pre-PPV package has got to be Armageddon with the 6 Pack Hell In A Cell. The war torn country with The End Is Near playing melancholically in the background. I doesn't get better.

I liked the cat a lot better before it started animating, btw.

I agree, the Summerslam video packages have rocked. And it also helps that the main even has been set since KOTR, so it's had a chance to build. The last time I remember a match with a build that good, and video packages to match, was before Wrestlemania 17, which featured that Limp Bizkit song. I don't even like Limp, but when I hear that song, it reminds me of good wrestling, so it makes me smile. :)

"My Way" from Wrestlemania X-7 was the best pay-per-view theme ever.

I also liked "The End is Here" from Armageddon 2000. They also used that theme for one of the NWO packages.

I saw the package again today, and I think the thing about it that I liked most and the thing that was just the clincher for me was one shot: Shawn posing in the entranceway, while behind him you can see Triple HHH in the smoke, just looking at him. It's a great shot, and really gives a sense of history to the whole thing, a sense of backstory and planning. Was that an old shot of them from DX, or from the "rebirth"?

I really, really dug the Beautiful Day video package for Triple H's return. So much so that me and a coupla friends spent an afternoon putting together a "WWF Title History" package to the song. Came out quite well actually.

I think it's great that Sting has found something to fill up his life when he decided to stop wrestling. It seems like so many wrestlers end up sticking around because there is not much more they know how to do.
