| #1 Posted on 27.9.05 0834.01 | Instant Rating: 4.07 | Jets' Pennington to miss rest of the season (NFL.com) according to the Associated Press.
This article's actually putting a lighter spin on it, as it was reported on "Mike and Mike in the Morning" on ESPN radio that not only is Pennington out, and there's also talk that Fiedler is probably done for the season as well. That leaves Brooks Bollinger to start on Sunday against the Ravens, and regardless of the severity of Fiedler's injury has the Jets scrambling to find another QB.
Also, according to the "Mike and Mike" program, Vinny Testaverde's agent has NOT been contacted about a possible return to the team, but Doug Johnson, Jonathan Quinn, and Jesse Palmer are slated to meet with team officials (and possibly try out) sometime today.
Certainly hasn't been a good month for the Jets...

This would've made the most sense. Volek has shown great skills when he's come in to replace McNair. The season is still wide open, why not take a shot and do a trade?

Yes they did ... but I still think he'd be available for the right price. Maybe not anywhere this season, but I don't look for him to be in Titan blue next season. | thecubsfan

Titans are equally unwilling to move Billy Volek; on the odd chance McNair survives the season without losing a limb, there's still the reality he may want to retire soon or suddenly due to all of his accumulated injuries.
No team who believes they can compete (and evne those who can't) is going to trade a competent QB unless they have two other competent QBs; there's almost no value you can get back from another team worth the risk of being in the same situation the Jets and the Bears are in. And I can't think of a team that has three QBs that are all credible.

Granted we're talking about Ramsey here, but I just don't know what they have to offer to get a "starter".
I say put Vinnie in.

He's going to be 42 this year and given the way he played last season, I suspect this isn't going to end well. On the upside, I'm fairly certain that the Ravens will be able to get their first win this Sunday, and if they can't, well, it's going to be a long season.
I'm sort of surprised that they couldn't swing a deal for Ramsey. I suspect that his time is up in Washington (or just about), but I guess they really don't have anything to give up.

And isn't Ramsey pretty much out of Wasington anyway, with him sucking and the drafting of Jason Campbell. I doubt anyone would give anything up for him.
And as for the J-E-T-S, let the Brooks Bollinger era begin. :)

I'm a Wisconsin guy, and I was there for Bollinger's tenure at UW, and he was never really all that impressive. Maybe he's learned some patience in the pocket and his deep passing has improved, if not it's going to be a long rest of the season for the Jets. Then again, I hope he does well. I like the guy and everything, especially since he's a fellow Alumni, but still....

It comes from the resructuring of his contact year after year, and thats just backloaded money. The Titans tried to avoid the purge that happened this off-season for the past 4 years and this is a result of it.
