I was at the Allstate Arena for this and I have to say the show exceeded my (admittedly low) expectations. It was a fun, immersive experience that certainly gave us goosebumps as we'd never been to a live WWE show before. We were about five rows up from the floor, opposite the hard camera but just out of its default shot. You could see us pretty clearly (pointing at the screen like idiots) over Bree's shoulder several times during that segment.

The crowd was engaged throughout, starting with a HUGE Booker T chant that broke out right when people spotted him getting ready for the preshow. Poor Alex Riley was the only one who showed up on time for that, by the way, and there was dude who spent what seemed like an eternity on fixing Book's hair.

We couldn't see what was on the other side of the titantron so the "hole-punched-through-glass" setup was only visible to me when I came home and threw on the network. The entire setup from the tron to the ring is *tiny* in person, and the WWE crew does a fantastic job of making it seem A LOT grander than it actually is. I don't know if this is simply a case with the Allstate Arena, but the ramp today was especially little, though it still looked alright on TV.

The Arena was pretty much full, with no large empty sections though there were some empty seats, particularly a couple at ringside. By the time the Hair/Mask match started, we'd already been in the building for about half an hour, and people were settled in and ready to go, which probably explains the amount of interest in that match. On the whole, there were only a couple of really quiet spots, during the beginning of the Alicia/Paige match and during the Rusev/Big E match.

Cesaro and Sheamus was fun - it is fantastic to watch Paul Heyman at ringside and everything he does, only about 5% of which is actually captured on TV. The ending was a bit sudden, and I'd love to see those two just beat on each other for longer at another PPV. We had a LOT of kids on our side of the arena so there was a fair amount of support for Sheamus, though you could hear the boos when he made his entrance. There was a kid behind me who kept screaming "Let's go, Sheamus" throughout the Swing - good on you, kid!

We initially thought that the bell ringing after Bo's entrance was a botch because we didn't know there was a match happening at all. We somehow missed the minions setting up Kane's pyro, so him coming out was a total surprise. The pyro is both LOUD and HOT. We could feel the heat of his entrance pyro from where we were sitting. I'm so glad the "We Bolieve" chant made it to TV. Thankfully, there wasn't a lot of "He's Got the Whole World" during Bo's match.

Lana is gorgeous. TV does her little justice. Both Rusev and Big E are huge, and Big E is surprisingly fast for someone his size.

They replaced some people in the front row on the hard camera's side for the RVD/BNB match, presumably because they knew about the spot that was happening on that guardrail. You can see that there are different people there during the Bray/Cena match than during the Van Dam/Barrett match. I had no idea they do this, but it makes sense from an insurance/liability point of view - you don't want random people suing you because Wade accidentally brushed them in the face with his boot while he was lying there or something. The "Bad News Barrett/RVD" dueling chants were fun, and I'd like to think that we (representing BNB) won.

The Steph/Brie segment was brilliantly acted (which I saw later - Steph's facial expressions are just excellent), but to me it made little sense. As a crowd we were thoroughly engaged but in terms of storyline, it was such an obvious stall tactic that you could see through it even though the segment itself came off great. Brie quitting perhaps deprives Stephanie of the sadistic pleasure she'd get out of firing her, but it doesn't stop Steph from stripping Bryan of the title, which is her endgame. Steph's character, though vindictive, has been portrayed as someone with enough wherewithal to keep her eyes on the prize and not really sweat the small stuff, and Brie quitting is indeed small stuff in the relatively bigger picture of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. And that green dress looked alright on Steph on TV but in person she looked gigantic. Not fat, mind, just large. Also, the choice of footwear that allowed her to tower over both Bryan and Brie was well-made.

The Cena/Wyatt match was fantastic, though a lot of the ringside stuff we had to watch on the titantron due to it being on the other side of the ring. There's no one who gets the reaction that Cena does, and he gets that reaction *throughout* his match. I think I now understand why people say the E will never turn him. On our side of the arena, the "Cena Sucks" chants were drowned out by the pro-Cena chants, but on TV it came off 50/50, so kudos to the rest of the arena. The complete darkness that seems to envelop the arena during Bray's entrance is either a camera trick or a clever illusion because it is not dark in the arena. The main light rig is switched off, but there's so much light coming in from the concourse that everything is clearly visible. Still, the creepy music and the phone flashlights make for a surreal atmosphere. And I don't know what you were seeing Quezzy, but that stair throw by Cena looked BRUTAL. In general, though , the weapons hits look a lot tamer in person while the physical stuff looks a lot more impactful. Notable exceptions were Barrett's Bullhammer (he was definitely holding back), Cena's stair throw, and that spot in the main event when Rollins jumped into a chairshot by Hunter. That stuff reverberated through the entire place.

The main event was pretty fantastic and virtually the entire crowd was rabid for the Shield. The story of Evolution having many chances to finish off members of the Shield but deferring in order to deliver more pain, and then paying for their overconfidence came off well enough even without the commentary. And man, Seth Rollins is a madman! Just an absolute wrecking ball of manic energy. His dive off the titantron was a thing of beauty, even though we'd seen him crawl into obscurity after taking that Pedigree on the entrance area, but we weren't expecting him to suddenly appear at the bottom of the tron. For a glorious instant there were two of him on the screen and it was a fantastically disorienting moment. I marked out for that.

Bluetista's gear was actually teal, and his arm sleeves didn't match. But it made him stand out in all the photos I took, so yay for that.

There wasn't much after the show went off air - the Shield celebrated for a bit with the fans at and around ringside, causing all the commentators to get held up for several minutes. Speaking of commentators, JBL gets a huge pop for his entrance. Miscellaneous Cool Moment of the Night: Charles Robinson acknowledging our "Little Naitch" chant!

Was I the only one who thought that there was a certain awkwardness to the way Rusev waved the flag?

Why do I get the feeling Rusev is being built to be fed to Cena? That way he can prove our centuries old American values of Hustle, Loyalty and Respect.

Money in the Bank is the Sunday before July 4, and it's in Boston. So maybe.

Because you grew up in the 1980s and were trained by how the WWF handled Hulk Hogan?

I think he was trying to wave it back and forth in sync to his music, but it looked awkward.

I really liked this show and hope I don't have to see a lot of those matches again. Structurally, MITB should shake up a lot of these feuds by default so I'm not too worried about it.

The Evolution/Shield match was pretty great and I didn't expect it to end that decisively but I'm glad it did.

Cena/Wyatt was also really great, although I think that Bray should have won this one, I don't think it's going to harm him too much in the longrun. I actually wouldn't mind seeing this feud continue just a bit longer, and maybe just simply putting them both in MITB would do the trick.

I was planning on watching this late last night, but the damn app spoiled the two biggest matches via push notifications before I even got the chance. The app is now uninstalled, but my interest in the show has waned greatly now, even though it sounds like there were some good matches.

So you won't watch two spectacular matches with a lot of great HOLY SHIT moments, because you know who won?

That's just silly.
Also, just disable the push notifications....

Did BlueBatista steal Sin Cara's arm covers for the match? That was an interesting fashion choice. That shade of blue really doesn't work well with his skin tone.

I quite enjoyed the PPV...but I groaned when Cena beat Wyatt. I'm tired of Cena. I'm sick and tired of Cena's character. I've never been more desperate to see him turn heel and add a little interest in his character...just like when Hogan turned and joined the nWo.

I would love to see more Hornswoggle vs El Torito. Wow, they're fun to watch!

I watch wrestling matches for the storylines. When I already know how the story ends, it makes the journey considerably less enjoyable. I'm not saying that I'll never watch them, but I definitely have no interest in watching them now.

And I liked some of the push notifications I received. Some of them were rather useful. I just didn't expect to have matches ruined by them. I might be a dramatic little bitch, but it pretty much soured me on the network as a whole to the point where I won't be renewing when my subscription runs out.

Time heals all wounds. I won't argue against your annoyance, I'd suggest turning the push pins off for the WWE Network though. See where you land once the subscription ends.

I'm on the other end of the spectrum. I hate push pins. Too many DVR'd baseball and football outcomes ruined for me. I had no choice but to disable them. It worked out for me since I'm checking the websites way too much every day anyways. Except when I want to see the game that I DVR'd. Then it's avoid all spoilers at all costs.

Watched the ppv last night and thought it was a great card.
Several matches went above and beyond what I expected.
Tag team stuff was fine, Rusev/Big E was good (not just the one spot, but I like how these two guys just fly into each other)

Heyman's promo was fun, I am amused how he always manages to bring it back to his client Brock Lesnar who broke the streak and beat the Undertaker at Wrestlemania.
Sheamus/Cesaro was fun, hope they continue for a bit longer. BNB vs RVD was probably the match I cared least about. Though they did their best (and Barrett is fun)

Cena vs Wyatt was very solid. They did go all out against one another, and the Uso's taking out the family was fun to watch. Everyone is commited in this feud it seems.

Shield vs Evolution..Wow..never thought the Shield would be dominating like that at the end. And I loved how 2/3 pins were after help from the groupmember (not making Shield looking weak, but showing they were a unit)
Rollins' huuuuuuge flyby boot must've knocked some sense into HHH

The Bryan/Brie/Steph segment was well played. Brie delivered the 'bitch' line with gusto, and the slap was great too. Loved how Stephanie sulked and ran (and yeah she looked fine)

A great solid ppv, I expected the main event matches to be good but the rest delivered as well. And that includes Bo's peptalk to Kofi.

I rewatched Shield v Evolution last night, and the relevant portions of the Payback fallout, just to see if there was any better establishment of the turn that was alluded to.

Interestingly, Booker T goes from saying "Sign me up to watch these guys on PPV for the next 10 years" at the beginning of the Fallout, to guaranteeing that there is no way they stay together within the span of 30 minutes.
