I was already losing interest in the show, but now I wonder if it's formally jumped the shark.

Paula Abdul says she is quitting "American Idol"

Paula Abdul said on Tuesday that she is quitting the judging panel of the United States' top rated TV singing show "American Idol."

Making her announcement on her Twitter feed, Abdul said she had decided not to return to "Idol" which is due to start auditions for its new season on August 9.

That's too bad and I know the rest of the judges didn't want to carry on without her. So what happens to the show now? It goes on, but is it the same?

It won't be as unintentionally hilarious, that's for sure.

I was digging Kara during the early audition episodes. She was smart and sassy and cool. Then someone must have told her that doesn't fly around here, because as the season wore on, she became a Randy Jackson-esque blithering idiot.

Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you...

I can already hear the screams of anguish all around me, but since I despise Idol with a passion for festering further America's love affair with crappy pop music and causing me untold aggravation in the form of years of unnecessary House pre-emptions, this is a great little birthday present for me that will hopefully be followed by the ratings going into the tank this year and the show biting the dust whenever Simon Cowell's contract is next up.

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

I assume by House you're referring to the show that would have been a 13 episode here-and-gone blip without being saved by getting the time slot after American Idol?

I...don't care. I mean Kara did become really annoying last season because her and Randy basically said the exact same thing every time but does it really matter what they say? Simon is the only one people care in any way about and even then they don't care THAT much as last season he basically gave Adam a verbal BJ week after week and the guy still didn't win.

So yeah, no Paula. Not much of a difference.

Well the thing now is Fox will have "celebrity judges" come in. Not sure if it's weekly or for a few week stretch, but Victoria Beckham reportedly is inline to do it this season.

I will miss a qualude addicted Abdul, glassy eyed and slurring her speech with lipstick smeared accross her teeth. She was just about the only reason to watch.

I am not sure why Kara isn't just put in as a third judge, (or left as a third judge, whatever) and keep it at three.

Still waiting for this show to break out, but it's just not coming. A couple of decent gags like Cleveland's Pac-Man weren't enough to save this one. Couldn't get into the main plot of Cleveland falling into a funk after getting struck out by Lester.
