Normally I don't bring these stories over here but as a recently minted Midwesterner I have a great abiding love for all things Menard (and MENARDS) - not to mention I'm a sucker for a yellow car - and I've been rooting for the Yates boys since they put "ELEVEN MILLION" on David Gilliland's then-sponsorless #38.
I doubt he'll keep the 15, so I wonder what number he'll get?
I wonder how long DEI can run with one sponsor and three drivers?
I wonder when we'll get some news about A.J. Allmendinger? (Or have we? This Menard story kinda distracted me) EDIT: I don't mean bad news. I think we all expected he was going to be replaced by Skinner & Speed... and that's finally official.
Originally posted by BigDaddyLocoYates hasn't really been relevant in awhile now, I guess it's a move up for Menard though.
They've been exceeding expectations all year, though. Ganassi and GEM were supposed to be decent and except for Kasey Kahne's hotstreak they've both been pretty crappy. OTOH, Yates has been running with makeshift sponsors and they've been solidly in the top-35 all year, unlike the 40 for Ganassi (RIP) and the 10 for GEM. I don't know that they are ready to make a leap like Team Red Bull did this year (mostly because their drivers are still pretty unproven) but they are as good a candidate to as anyone.
Supposedly Allmendinger might go to the 41 for Ganassi. DEI appears to be in pretty big trouble. I'd bet they sell the 8 points to Childress to use for the 33 so Bowyer is locked in at the 500.
