I will always remember when living with my grandmother how we had to sit in silence when he was on the radio. Every day, I actually learned something in those few minutes he was talking. Sad indeed.
There's no way there'll ever be another one like him on the radio (an easy thing to say, given that GENERATIONS have gone by without anybody coming close) - and I don't hold out a lot of hope for the blogosphere.
I just heard Paul Harvey last week for the first time in a long time. He sounded extremely frail and I was thinking that his days sounded numbered.
I also thought that his little show was such a contrast to whatever else we hear on radio these days. I can't think of a more neutral and educational voice on the public airwaves and I truly hope that they syndicate his "greatest hits" for years to come.

Radio is continually losing the voices that not only informed and entertained, but did it in a way that didn't insult or offend you, and did it in a way that you knew the words were coming from the man himself.
His anti-Vietnam broadcast to Pres. Nixon would never be made by any of the shills on talk radio today.

So when Steyn comes out with statements saying that anti-Bush protest in London this week are down to is he deliberately looking to stir people the wrong way or is he just an ignorant tool?
