Is anyone else following this show? Personally I love it. It's a bit confusing and almost impossible to jump directly into it (I missed last week's episode and most of the week before and I've found myself completely lost). It's one of the few dubbed animes I've seen that I actually like...very intriguing storyline, in-depth character examinations, an absolutely wonderful soundtrack, etcetera. The animation itself is also quite awesome, which has always been a pet peeve with most anime that I've seen.
A lot better than the other anime that's currently in first-run on the AS action block, in particular the incredibly irritating Inuyasha and the absolutely atrocious S-Cry-Ed. Then again, there was also the highly enjoyable "Full Metal Alchemist" which got picked up for more episodes, so I guess Adult Swim lately has decided for every decent anime they bring on, they have to supplement it with one that's absolutely annoying.
Oh, and speaking of animes I actually enjoy, Adult Swim has FINALLY picked up "Evangelion: Neon Genesis" to premiere on their lineup on October 10th (and airing each subsequent Thursday). I watched the series on DVD years ago with a friend of mine and absolutely LOVED it. It'll be interesting to see how the dubbed version turns out.
I sincerely hope that the next episode (which, if memory serves, is the last episode) will give us some concrete answers, because I'm insanely curious. Granted, it's anime, which means this will never happen, but a man can dream.
The beginning felt a little clunky to me, and I was almost ready to give it up, but then between the third and fourth episodes it suddenly seemed to click. Somewhat rare for an AS anime. Have to agree on S-CRY-Ed, at that; it's neck-and-neck with Reign as the worst show they've ever put on.
Considering that AS still censors "sweet zombie Jesus" in Futurama, I'm a little worried about Evangelion getting hacked up for play. Fingers crossed, but hard to be optimistic.
