A buddy of mine has a Palm Zire71 PDA. Apparently, there are newer versions out there. I've googled this and not really come to any conclusion as to which Palm pilot is the best. The Zire71 has a camera... but I'm not too interested by this feature, so I won't buy it for this reason alone.

Anyone here own a Palm and have any recommendations or warnings? I'd love to hear which Palm Pilots to avoid and which are improved over other versions. What I'm looking for is one that allows me to use a SD flash card (as most seem to only have 13-20 MB of memory).

Take the plunge. Step into liquid.

I have a Palm Tungsten E. Figure out what you want to pay for it and send me an offer

I got a Treo from work which is essentially a Palm Pilot and phone combined, so I don't need it.

I never really used it as much as I thought I would. I recommend going at minimum with a color model with an SD slot. I had 512 meg cards for mine and used it as a flash drive for files back and forth.

I also have a Treo (650) and I use it for all of the Palm aspects-calendar, tasks, etc. It's also my mobile phone and my music source when I go to the gym (off a 1GB card). I recommend it, unless your provider offers the Treo 700, which operates on a Windows platform instead of Palm OS. I'd go for that if I could.

I have the 650 as well, and can't imagine using it as an mp3 player. It's huge! But I do like that my phone and palm are combined. I don't like that it doesn't have any handwriting recognition (which I loved on the Palm, but some hate it).

If your cellular provider offers Treo service you should look into it. It has been much more useful for me than the normal palm was.

//Edit: The 700 has the ability to do remote desktop for Windows servers, which would be nice. I'd like that from the road. I believe there is a citrix client for the 650 that offers similar functionality for a published RDP client though.

True-I'll probably end up getting one of those iPod things the kids all have these days. I do take it to the gym, though, because I have my itemized workout in there as well as the music. I've learned, though, that it's not very sturdy when it falls off a treadmill.

It wouldn't be funny if a similar scenario hadn't happened to EVERYONE. I originally "cancelled" my AOL account about two years ago. I'd call up to cancel and they'd set me up with 3 more free months everytime.
