https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/26/sports/baseball/joe-girardi-fired-yankees.html

Joe Girardi is done in NY. Seriously? One game from the World Series in what was supposed to be a "rebuilding" year. I just don't see the logic. With all the youth this team has, why not keep the skipper who's been there with them as they flourish?
I hope Cashman knows what he is doing.

I texted my dad when I heard about it, the response was simply "Good Riddance".

Girardi has made plenty of mistakes during his tenure, and every time he's been questioned about it he insists it was the best call to make at the time. Confident, yes, but accountable? No.

6 playoffs in 10 years, one WS Ring, a game away this year... Seems like "what have you done for me lately" doesn't apply.

The official reasoning is he wanted to be with his family more. I'm sure he's still pissed the Cubs didn't give him a chance.

Oh my lord, as the resident d-rays fan on this board, or at least the only one who will admit it, I here by thank the Red Sox for choking this game away. There were way too many Red Sox fans at the Trop tonight for us to lose this game.
