I don't care what anyone thinks...tonight's Raw ruled up and down. From Flair's killer promo on HBK to the main event to the backstage stuff with the tag champs to HBK jumping off the semi...wow. Raw hasn't been this killer in months!

Shawn Michaels with an elbowdrop into OH NOOO NOT THE DUMPSTER FULL OF SHREDDED PAPER! Guess they gotta protect their main event...

I especially liked the very end of the show when J.R. said: "OH MAH GAWD! HBK OFF THE TOP OF THE SEMI! Good Night Everybody!" I was falling out of my chair.

While Raw didn't outright suck, it was far from awesome. None of the matches did anything for me, and RVD continues to get buried despite being the most over face on the show.

Highlight of Raw was RNN. Flair's promo might have gotten the nod had it not been designed as a HHH verbal BJ.

I was particularly miffed at the 3MW beat-down on Kane. Top rope splash from a 300+ pound guy, and Kane is up swinging a chair showing no ill-effects not 20 seconds later. SELL GODDAMMIT!

Raw's got a *long* way to go before I'm calling it awesome.

Y'know, thise commercials don't really appeal to me. Except that Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers commercial, which kicks ass (although only 1/1000th as much as the actual movie shall).

Yeah, Joey would TOTALLY do that Klingon chick.

...and a Fashion Report, too.

Chief, and DeadCowMan, in...YES, a dead cow, like to show-off the high-tech abilities of the TitanTron. Ooo - stipulations!

Booker, in hot-crotch flamin' BookerT black undies, and Goldie, in IWantThatRobe, vs. Lance and Willy, in red and red/blue undies and red boots/kneepads, with flags. Nice match - not the cleanest, but it jerked my curtain. Damnit, Coach, get back to Heat. Goldie wants out? Wha? And why does he sound like Dustin Rhodes?

Rob chats to CRZ, 'cuz his number's in Bischoff's speed-dial. No, Jacqueline, DON'T bounce!

Rygar hates milk! America's dairy farmers thank you.

So, um, is there any more women's wrestling on SD!? I mean, I haven't seen any for months now. Jackie, in blue "bouncy-enhancing" vest, vs. Stevie, in blue SR full-cuts. I want those 3 minutes of my life back.

Rob, in black singlet with white dragon, vs. Dave, in burgundy and gold undies, with Whoo!, in suit. Yep, this segment needs more Kane.

Back from commercial, more Kane! No, I just lost a WHOLE lota respect for Kane's character with the "Hellooooo, Morely" bit.

H-man, in red H full-cuts, and D-Lo, in black singlet, vs. Al, in black "Snow Man" trunks, and Maven, in black M full-cuts. I...don't get it. Okay match, but I don't know about the whole plot between D-Lo and H-man.

Goldie and Booker have a heart-to-heart. It's on! Now THAT's how to build-up intensity.

"Gangs of New York": from a time when EVERYONE wore hats.

Thhhor, in iron-cross undies, with Whoo!, vs. Jeff, half-green, in a wifebeater. Ha, that IC title loss bites Thhhor in the butt, 1.5 years later. Well, you can't honestly claim Jeff strikes with a closed fist. Conspiracy watch: Thhhor needs a second pedigree so the match spills-over into the second hour.

Whoo! CUTS A PROMO. Then Thhhor rambles. The end of HBK?

Kane, in straps and spandex, vs. FatSamoans, in stuff, with Rico. Sorry, didn't pay attention. I don't care about no stinkin' FatSamoans.

Hey, Stacie, Test doesn't care about the marketing stuff - he just wants sweet lovin'. Hey, Randy is GREAT in milking that shoulder injury! ("Hey, watch the shoulder!")

Um, the end is near? Not like they haven't repeated that phrase WAY too much tonight.

Jericho/Christian in the back are funny!

Puppies, in cowboy hat and sparkley trenchcoat and D-Von, in "3-D" shirt and Bubba, in black cutoff, vs. Jezebul, in sparkly hooter-holder, wearing the belt and Jericho, in red trunks with silver splats, wearing the belt, and Chrisian, in black overalls with gold leggings, wearing the belt. Oh, D-Von's camo pants are STRONG purple. Damn you, commercials! Hot match - the interferenc was very effective. Made me think the tag division just may be very strong here on Raw. Oh, JR snuck in a "bitch". Wonder if they'll catch that for the west-coast airing.

Can't end the show in the ring. We watch Shawn transform into some rabid beast in the cool Tennessee evening. Yeah, dumpster diving!

OVerall: a nice show. Obvious match of the night goes to the main event, simply because it made me care about the tag division. Whoo! continues to shine - his promo in the middle also made me care. If only they had another week 'til the PPV, I think I might consider buying it. Oh well.

Yeah, RVD sure was being buried. First, a big monster who's been destroying people has to have help from Flair to keep RVD from beating him yet still doesn't manage to pin RVD and then RVD comes in and helps Kane beat down 3 other guys. Not to mention he got to punk out the general manager & chief of staff. If RVD gets anymore buried, he just might win the title.

It was great on the RAW scale of things but I dunno about awesome though. Hopefully, they see Flair's true value now on the microphone. He did more in that promo to make me want to see HBK-HHH then either of the two participants have. Flair was able to walk that kayfabe line like no other.

It also looks like Shawn's back on the sauce, which is good, I guess because maybe he'll actually look like a wrestler at Armageddon.

Victoria almost broke her neck in the main event, that was scary.

Oh yah! How dare they put over the main heel going into the PPV? That'd be just awful!
Anyway, I don't understand. Smackdown has one or two good matches every week and it's so much better (so it's said) than Raw. Raw comes out with two sweet little matches and it's just "HHH is on RAW, so we automatically hate it."
Also, the dumpster diving bit is still not going to feel good no matter how he lands. Plus, he landed a SWANK shovel shot on HHH.
If RVD were getting buried, he would have jobbed to Batista tonight.

Well, in my book, RVD getting involved w/ Kane & 3MW doesn't seem like a step up for a guy who was competing for the title 1 month ago, and #1 contender for the belt 3 weeks ago.

But that's just me.

There's a difference. A good SD match blows anything Raw does out of the water.

HHH being on the show deosn't factor into my not liking the other matches.

Smackdown has more then just GREAT (not sweet or good) matches. It was wrestling angles, wrestling storylines, that start and finish, that have logical twists and turns. Smackdown doesn't insult your intelligence and doesn't make you embarrassed to be a wrestling fan.

I said that same thing after Flair's promo. He did more to put over the HHH-HBK match than anything HHH and HBK have done for the past few weeks. Of course, his promo was BS. I definitely don't think HHH is the best wrestler alive today and the current HHH isn't anywhere near the Flair from the late '80s-early '90s or the HBK before his back injury that ended his career. If Flair had said that about HHH before HHH's quad injury, I could have went along with it but now, no way.

It was cool to see Trish do the Superbomb spot through the table and they've done a good job of building up Booker T and Golddust to either winning the titles or having one of them turn on the other if they don't.

On the downside, what's up with the commercial breaks while HHH as asking Shawn to get in the ring and then when Bubba had Victoria in a powerbomb position while walking toward the table? And, now Jim Ross is saying puppies about 5 times during the Trish match. Whatsupwiddat? Not to mention that Ross is still calling that Dudleys belly to back suplex a 3D.

And as for the stipulations in the HHH-HBK match, are they just going to ignore that HHH won the Intercontinental Title from The Rock in a great ladder match? They acted like only Shawn knew anything about ladder matches.

A better title for this thread is "RAW was boring."

RAW's main problem is that it doesn't have the talent depth of Smackdown. The matches were not compelling, Jeff Hardy has no business wrestling, RVD vs. Batista is wrong on so many levels, etc. Tonight's best match, the mixed tag, would be the second worst match on a typical Smackdown. And boy was said match overbooked. What a way to kill the heat building during the match, although there was way too much stalling for this particular match. Either run-ins in no-DQ matches should either end quickly or they take place after the match. The run-ins lasted forever and didn't add anything to this match or the upcoming pay-per-view match.

The worse thing is, the show didn't even end there. I turned the TV at that point because as far as I was concerned the show was over.

The main event summed up the show perfectly, it just dragged on.

Yes, Al Wilson sucks. But SD is still light-years ahead of Raw overall.

Awesome? Eh?

The big issue in the tag ranks is between Booker/Goldust and Jericho/Christian, right? So why are they cluttering it up with the Dudleyz and Storm and Regal? Maybe I'm letting my dislike of the Storm/Regal team cloud my judgment, but why cram four teams into a match when you only need two?

Hey! Rob Van Dam! Last week your opponent cheated you out of a shot at the #1 contendership. The week before, the same guy stole your chance to become champion. What are you going to do about it? Are you going to a) kick his ass and take his name or b) bitch mildly to the general manager and then toddle off to go further someone else's feud again?

Why are they putting on Stevie/Jacqueline matches when Ivory and Molly are sitting around backstage twiddling their thumbs?

Yes, Shawn's dive off the semi was impressive, even if the poof of shredded paper kind of spoiled the effect. But someone really should have cut him off after that. That speech was campier than a row of tents.

But not to be unrelentingly negative, one thing I laughed at: Jericho and Christian trying to see what Victoria was staring at during their backstage segment. And Maven/Snow vs. Nowinski/D'lo was a good little match.

RVD's Mr. Laid-Back, mind you. Not to mention he got to tick around the General Manager and have some fun in that office. I don't get why Molly isn't being used either, but I've heard rumors she's been repackaged for some odd reason. I agree about the speech being slightly campy, but I feel it was just HBK trying to live up to the utter PWNAGE that was Flair's promo. You HHHaters sure missed a fantastic promo, Flair's best in a GOODLY long while. I was just jaw-dropped in awe.

See, I figure that if you have to spend like 20 minutes recapping, re-editing, and retconning a major angle from the last 9 months just to get it to "kind of" make sense, then maybe your booking team needs to get its shit together.
