Originally posted by ges7184Just for the record, the BCS couldn't envoke the "Big East" rule on FSU, because they don't qualify. The "Big East" rule applies only when a conference champion's ranking averages 12 or below over a four year period. You can read more about this in the FAQ here : Click Here
Basically, while a rule is in place for an out, it is one that they really never intend to use.

trust me, i know his site by heart, but i can always hope they use it.
the rule is on the books 3 reasons. if 1) the Big east tanks, and really, Miami and VT are the only real teams there, 2) the ACC tanks, as MD, FSU, and VA are the only teams there, or 3) the Pac-10 tanks, as Stanford won the conf in 99 and was ranked 22....
new "Big East" rule standings for the last 4 years: conf - avg - 2002 - 2001 - 2000 - 1999 ACC 7.25 FSU(16) MD(10) FSU(2) FSU(1) Big East 1.75 Miami(1) Miami(1) Miami(3) VT(2) Big Ten 8.50 OSU(2) IL(8) Purdue(17) Wisconsin(7) Big 12 3.75 OK(8) CO(3) OK(1) NB(3) Pac 10 9.25 Wazzu(7) OR(4) WA(4) Stanford(22) SEC 7.00 GA(4) LSU(13) FL(7) Bama(4)
Big East has the best average, 1.75, Pac 10 has the worst at 9.25, but Stanford is the blame for that.
ACC is on a downward spiral, as FSU's #1 will drop off next year Big East is crusing on Miami's streak of wins Big Ten is trucking along, as long as next years conf champ finishes #21 or better
Big 12 is solid as usual, and quality teams are all in the hunt for the title, unlike the Miami show in the 'East Pac 10 will benifit of Stanford's #22 dropping off the map next year SEC is doing good too...
DDP: Well, there's this little passage I got memorized, Diamond Dallas 25:17. Sort of fits this occasion:
"The path of the bookerman is beset on all sides by the inequities of the talented, and the tyranny of workrate freaks. Blessed is he, who in the name of tradition and sports entertainment carries the stiffs through the matches of Nitro, for he is truly the workrate's keeper, and the finder of lost quality. And I will lay the smack down upon thee with great vengeance and furious roid rage those who attempt to outwrestle and expose my brothers. And you will know my name as the Bookerman, when I lay my catchphrase upon thee!"
