Well, not just RPGs since this has to do with the new Sega Ages compilations, but the RPGness is what has me totally PSYCHED right now.
So, three new compilations, 14 games in all. The seed goes something like this...
Number One (Space Harrier, Fantasy Zone, Phantasy Star, Golden Axe.)
Number Two (Monaco GP, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Gain Ground, Bonanza Brothers, Bare Knuckle/Streets of Rage, Tant-R.)
Number Three (Phantasy Star II, Virtua Racing, Phantasy Star IV, Last Bronx.)
Since I grew up on Phantasy Star (PSIV in particular is responsible for getting me into RPGs and anime as well, and remains my favourite even now), this is very, very interesting news, especially considering the amazing graphical improvements they seem to be making. Here is the original article. Scroll to the bottom and check out the screenshots. Then go play Phantasy Star on a Sega Master System emulator.
Bloody brilliant. Sega, if you decide to bring these to north america, I will sell you my soul.
What the hell, I'll give this a go. Vancouver: 14-5-4-0. Winning streak now at 9 freaking games.
Sounds cool, except for the addition of Streets of Rage. I always felt Streets of Rage II was the best in the series. Of course considering they're remaking some of the games with new graphics, etc. I can let it slide.
Phantasy Star 4? SWEET GOD YES! I remember wanting that game so bad, but it was like $99 so I couldn't convince my parents to get it for me. You know, if they re-released Shining Force 2, I would finally have every Genesis RPG worth having.
It's like a koala bear crapped a rainbow in my brain!
I remember playing Phantasy Star IV on the Sega Channel (anyone remember that?) and being pissed that I couldn't save it, but if they bring this game to the US, I will finally have all of my favorite RPGs!
Next year is going to be an awesome year for RPG fans it seems.

Yes, but those are just straight ports, these are remakes. According to Magic Box, Sega isn't stopping with the graphics either; looks like there are gameplay enhancements on the way as well. Not that PSIV really needs them, but PSI and PSII could certainly use a little tweaking here and there. Especially in the area of narrative, both games were far, far too light compared to PSIV.
I'm glad I'm not the only person here who practically worships this series. I'm getting in the mood for another PSIV replay once I'm done with Suikoden II (finally got all 108 stars, baby!)
What the hell, I'll give this a go. Vancouver: 15-6-4-0. Winning streak lasted 10 games.
i suppose you heard this before but people in europe did not get a pal release of the game. A complete crime. It is actions like that will lose nintendo players
