Anybody else looking forward to this for XBox? I'm mainly stoked because of

1) Legacy mode; and
2) All 320-some D1 teams are included in the game.

I haven't actually purchased a basektball game since I got NBA Live 95 for the Genesis. I was always a fan of the March Madness series from EA but since they produce that exclusively for PS systems, I'm somewhat shut out from that. Additionally, MM2003 is "only" going to have 160 or so Division 1 teams.

The real fun for me is going to try to take a small school(i.e. Vermont, Towson, Albany, etc.) deep into the dance.

I wouldn't get your hopes up, it's very possible that Sega will cancel the NCAA titles to help cut development costs in their sports division.

It's supposed to come out December 8th. I would assume that they wouldn't cancel it now, especially considering MS is advertising it as XBox Live compatible.

True... maybe it was the college football titles they were planning to scrap. I'll see if I can find the article.

I am anxiously awaiting the release of this game for the X-Box. I've had the system for less than a month and the factor that enabled the X-Box to win out over the PS2 was that the X-Box would have a college basketball game; otherwise I would have gone with the PS2. I just prefer college basketball to the pro game. Besides, when I had NBA Jams for the N64, I'd just take the Celtics and trade for every UK alumnus (well, you have to graduate to be an alumnus, so I'll just say I'd trade for every former UK player) and Popeye Jones (he went to Murray State, as did I). This way, I'll just play with the Wildcats and won't have to worry about trading. I just hope that I can recruit.

Recruiting is one of the things you get to do. In fact, you get to do it all, including the option of starting a career as a coach at a small school and working your way up the ladder.

You won't just be able to make yourself the coach of your favorite team (as you do in the Madden games)?

Sounds cool, I'm needing a different game right now, just for a change of pace. I think this game should be out for X-Box on Tuesday, so the timing is almost perfect.

(As for the "I just hope that I can recruit", I meant that I hope that I can recruit well.)

I don't understand your reasoning for your X-Box purchase. The game is coming out on PS2 as well. I have read reviews, it seems the game is good, the franchise mode is awesome, but it has all the flaws that NBA2k2 had (terrible CPU AI, no clock management by CPU, in-bound passes about as accurate as Jeff Hardy's moves, etc.) But I might pick it up for the franchise mode. You start at a crappy school and try to work your way up to the big time and coach a College Basketball powerhouse.

J.W. is right on the money. If X-Box wasn't going to have a college B-ball game, I was going to buy a PS2 because the PS2 did (does) have college basketball. I don't know that the X-Box is better (or worse) than PS2, but I wasn't concerned about the lack of X-Box games. All I really care about are sports games, and those seem more prone to being available for multiple systems.

I bought the game yesterday and have played a little. Only problem is that dUKe's Jason Williams is on the cover and on the disk. Merely buying the game was borderline treason in the Bluegrass State. I think it will be a good game, but I do agree that the computer is pretty lousy (at least at the beginner level). They did a nice job of impersonating the players and providing a handy name editor with complete names available for the editing process. What a coincidence that the numbers, classes, and sizes of the players on the game were true to life? ;-) For what it's worth, the NCAA should share their revenue from this game with EVERY player on every team.

I can just imagine myself, standing over a disassembled PS2 with a wrench in one shaky hand: "Easy Brian... easy.... easy...." "D'oh!"
