Don't give me this "they haven't beaten anybody good" crap. They now stand alone atop the NFL at 9-2, with a tough month ahead of them. They travel to New Orleans next week, Atlanta comes to town the week after, and then the Steelers make a Monday Night trip two weeks after that. The road to the NFC Super Bowl berth looks to go through Raymond James Stadium (which I'm sure excites more teams than just the Bucs who didn't want to travel to Green Bay in January).

Aaaagh! As much as this pains me...congratulations. We were owned today. Our injuries and some weakness in the receiver corps finally caught up with us against a superior opponent...today...

We'll see how the rest of the season shakes out and see ya in the playoffs!

8-3 OK...road games just suck!! We'll see how next week goes...

Sapp should be lucky that the game was in Tampa, not Green Bay.

Hey BucsFan - Your thoughts on Sapp's hit on Clifton?

You guys played a good game. I hope we meet again, regardless of locale (although I'd prefer to be there in person).

We are now 5-0 against GB at RayJay Stadium. We got two games on Atlanta and NO in third place now so next weeks game is HUGE.

Sapp's hit was clean. No one wants to seem to mention the late hit to Brad Johnsons eye that left him without vision for a while. That was just as bad as Sapp's hit. Neither got called so that should tell you where the NFL's priorities are at. Oh you can't hit a qb in the head, but poking his eye out is just dandy.

Man has Favre been off his game the past two weeks or what?

My dream scenario has Philly coming to RayJay for the NFC title game and getting destroyed by the Bucs on our way to the Super Bowl.

I think the difference is that the Brad Johnson thing appeared to be unintentional, while Sapp's hit looked very intentional. Sapp's hit was legal, but was it cheap?

The Bucs have nothing but tough opponents left, whereas the Pack have a game against San Fran and a bunch of patsies. Trust me, GB will still end up with home field throughout the playoffs, which pretty much guarantees a Super Bowl berth.

It was a cheap shot, and Sapp's a jackass for doing it and then essentially laughing about it. But it's not unlike hits we see offensive linemen make on big runs downfield.

As for the Bucs remaining schedule, yes it appears tough (@ NO, Atlanta, @ Detroit, Pittsburgh, @ Chicago), but the Bucs should come out of this stretch with only one loss:

-The Saints are on a downfall, while the Bucs are probably the second hottest team in the league (with only the Falcons possibly ahead of them there).
-Detroit and Chicago should both be wins because, hey, they both suck.

So that means if they can beat either the Steelers or Falcons at home (remember they shut down Vick until he was knocked out in the second quarter last time they played), they will win the homefield advantage.

Sapp took advantage of a lineman who was looking the wrong way after the interception, and then laughed about it. Though Clifton should have been paying better attention to traffic on his right as well as his left, Sapp's willingness to blindside someone not even involved in the play was indeed cheap. (Much like the way some defenders smash quarterbacks after an interception under the "everyone's fair game now" doctrine.) Sapp's cheering about sending someone off on a cart is just poor sportsmanship.

Sapp's also a real big man in getting in Mike Sherman's grill and throwing out fighting words and playing tough towards the old man.

Who cares, The Bucs are the Bucs and they will "Billy Gunn" it in the playoffs with homefield or not they will be lucky if they pass the Divisional round and I'll be the first to bet against them not winning the Conference round if they even make it that far.

From what I saw, Sapp's hit was clean.

I think after the Sapp-Sherman argument, Sapp shoved a few of the Packers coaches.

Two Quick thoughts:

1. Sapp's hit looked clean marginal at best--but not intentionally dirty. There weren't flags thrown and if the refs thought it was okay, why should Sherman bitch? The league will fine him if they see fit.

2. Sherman went over and got in Sapp's ear first--making points about the hit. Warren jawed back, which was to be expected. I understand Sherman's frustration with injuries, but he needs to let the league and the refs do the penalizing. Sapp made some good points during the post game. Sherman looked like a man that had made a mistake.

Yeah, I agree Sherman should've just kept his mouth shut.

Unless the Bucs, and the Packers meet in the playoffs, the next time they meet in the regular season is 2006.

The Bucs will have a good run until they meet the Eagles in the playoffs and lie down like they are sooooooo good at.

From the infamous Wrestleline SS interview:

DTD: If you were to make changes in WCW, if you were in charge and not Ric Flair, what would they be?

SS: I'd get rid of all the old guys, and push the talent that has waited to get the push. The things they are doing, it's back in the 1980s. It's just bad, man. Flair doesn't even deserve to be on the show. You've got to get rid of all the old guys. Like what Vince did, they started pushing guys. Nobody knew who The Rock was 2 years ago. He made The Rock. Now The Rock just did Saturday Night Live. You've got to start with the young talent, talent people can relate to. Who are we trying to relate to if we've got a 50 year old man out there? Are we trying to relate, so a 50 year people and above will go out and buy a f*cking little toy? That ain't gonna happen. It's a f*cking joke.

Does it remind you of any show in particular?

Since when is it legal to launch into the air, lead with your helmet, and strike helmet to helmet?

As for the hit on Johnson, it was inadvertant in that he wasn't attempting to strike him in the eye. He was reaching for the QB while rushing him. Not even close to being an accurate analogy.

Actually Tom, the Bucs will play the team that finishes in the same spot in the NFC north as they finish in the NFC south, next year at home. So it looks like the pack will be coming back to Ray Jay for another spanking next year.

As for all of you Sapp haters, BOO, go read Drop's post again. He said exactly what I was thinking in a much clearer way.

Drawing a wrestling analogy, if the ref doesn't see the chair shot, does that make it legal?

Just curious, to see if we "saw" the same thing (or if I'm seeing things):

Did Sapp leave his feet on the hit? Did he hit with his helmet? Did he hit Clifton in the head?

i see both sides:

Sapp's hit was legal, it looked iffy because he lead with the helmet, but yes, everyone is legal for a block.

but

i see the coaches side. Dude was no where near the play, may be paralized, and sapp appeared to sock him for the sake of it...

if i were a GREEN bay player, i know i sure as hell would return one to warren sometime...play is down field, warren is turning around and a TE decides to "Block" him and WHAM!

i'd love to see that...but if it happens in Tampa, there might be a small scale riot

I saw the hit real time and on replay. It looked like every other vicous legal hit. Was Sapp near his head? Yes. Did it look like he was trying to hurt him? No. Do people try to hurt people in football? Yes. Turnovers are literal free-for-alls in the NFL. Just about eveything's leagal save a block in the back. It's pick a guy and knock his ass down. These arent' MY rules. They're the league's.

I think that the issue has polarized folk because of the post-game confrontation. Would we really even be having this discussion if Sherman doesn't get in Sapp's face? Also--Aren't the PLAYERS the folk that should have gotten in Warren's shit over his play on the field? I'm no Sapp or Bucs fan, but I think this is getting overblown (the hit that is, not the post game nonsense).

DrOp--hopes they don't meet in the playoffs, cuz I'd really hate to hear all this stuff again.
