3.7 for RAW, up .6. Maybe HBK can help RAW out after all.

No HHH and Jericho, RVD, and Booker T in a good main-event. Hmmmm... Naw, it must be because of Scott Steiner. Or the fans were glued to their sets waiting for HHH to arrive. Yeah, that's it. (For the love of God, I'm only kidding)

On the plus side, interest in the HBK vs. RVD match should keep ratings up for at least a week.

Wonder what they'll credit the spike to. Because it followed a Pay Per View? Steiner?

The correct answer - because they announced early that "The Game will not be on RAW tonight." Brilliant move and an enjoyable show. Of course, they won't learn anything from it.

The real telling stat would be how the ratings did as the show went along. Did the ratings remain steady, climb, or drop as the show moved along and especially for the main event.

As for HHH, I understand a lot of people's euphoria over a HHH free Raw but, I think HHH still adds something to the show when he's there. I, however, have been labeled a "HHHater" by the HHH apologists because I prefer that HHH have a much more limited and reserved role on the show than what he has had recently. I actually like HHH on the show but, I don't like him dominating the show.

5th: You need to recognize that according to current net dogma anyone who in any suggests that Raw wouldn't be best served by 2 hours of HHH beating people with his sledgehammer every week is in fact a HHHater. Suggestions that anyone else would be well served to get some more camera time and credibility are in fact pie-in-the-sky smarks with absolutely no knowledge of what the common marks want and most likely have dirty thoughts while watching Chris Benoit matches. If ratings are high, it's due to people wanting to see HHH. If they're low, it's because there's not enough HHH to satisfy the masses. And HHH is the only credible main eventer on that roster, and thus should go over everyone.

Oh please people!!! Come on!!!

Even the lowest member of the RAW creative scrotum pole could tell you that the BIGGEST reason for the ratings spike is because JR schilled the reports of HHH possibly on his way to the arena.

Everyone was on the edge of their seats waiting for HHH to run in on the final match, take the mic, and accuse RVD of being involved with the Pee Wee Herman and Jeffrey Jones escapades.

I stopped trying to figure out the ratings a long time ago. There have been a ton of different occasions where I thought Raw was more entertaining than Nitro in a given week and the ratings said otherwise, and vice-versa.

To be honest, I don't know why people still pay that much attention to the numbers now that there's no "ratings war" any more. People can, and will, interpret the numbers however they want to.

Even though I don't like HBK as a champ this was nice to see. Time will tell if they are on a roll again.

From the infamous Wrestleline SS interview:

DTD: If you were to make changes in WCW, if you were in charge and not Ric Flair, what would they be?

SS: I'd get rid of all the old guys, and push the talent that has waited to get the push. The things they are doing, it's back in the 1980s. It's just bad, man. Flair doesn't even deserve to be on the show. You've got to get rid of all the old guys. Like what Vince did, they started pushing guys. Nobody knew who The Rock was 2 years ago. He made The Rock. Now The Rock just did Saturday Night Live. You've got to start with the young talent, talent people can relate to. Who are we trying to relate to if we've got a 50 year old man out there? Are we trying to relate, so a 50 year people and above will go out and buy a f*cking little toy? That ain't gonna happen. It's a f*cking joke.

Does it remind you of any show in particular?

That's odd, I could have sworn that anyone who suggests that hatred for Triple H is getting a bit out of hand is just a closet Triple H mark who spends all his time in his room in his parents' basement, with HHH posters on every wall and plenty of Kleenex at the ready for "cleanup". If ratings are high, it's because of the workrate and charisma of the misused talent beneath the glass ceiling, and if ratings are low, it's because of the AnticHHHrist hogging the TV time.

(Seriously, though, CALM DOWN, people...)

It's clear to me that anyone who mentions HHH in a post is a complete idiot. Unless, of course, they share the same opinion as yourself (whatever it may be), then they're a victim of HHHaters/wHHHores just like you. And if you're not mentioning HHH in a majority of your posts, you're trying to hold him down, which makes you no better than he is! Now I'm going to go see who has posted in the most threads so I can figure out who's sleeping with the moderators.

Doing some research I found some REAL interesting numbers. Especially the last 3 Raws after Pay Per Views before this month

The RAW after SummerSlam (Aug. 26) with HHH v. Undertaker in the main event for the #1 contender the ratings DROPPED 0.1 from the previous week

The Raw after UnForgiven (Sep. 23) where Triple H defeated RVD on that PPV the ratings went up only 0.2 from the previous week

The Raw after No Mercy (Oct. 21) where Triple H defeated Kane on the PPV the ratings DROPPED 0.1 from the previous week

This weeks Raw after Survivor Series, with no Triple H in sight and a new champion with a main event involving guys Triple H said himself in a Cincy newspaper "haven't really found their niche yet" delivered a rating that rose 0.6! from the previous week.

I'm not making these numbers up or picking them out of the sky. Those were how the ratings went after PPV's that Triple H kept the title or wrestled on the for him to be #1 contender. How much more of bucket full of cold water does Vince McMahon need to know that the fans want new people on top and Triple H away from the main event. No one tuned in to see him as champ after a PPV since he was the top man on Raw in the last few months.

Astroidboy is right in months/years gone by there is usually a PPV day after spike in the ratings. Coincidentally enough that isn't the case in the "recent HHH king of Raw era" (like I showed)... The same coincidence that months/years gone by it doesn't matter if they were doing 4's or 6's in the ratings the second hour always had a jump of around 0.5. but now during the "recent HHH king of Raw era" of the last 3 months the biggest second hour increase was only 0.2, most of the time it's even with the 1st hour and on 3 or 4 occasions the second hour DROPPED (including last week, BTW HHH main evented that) which never happened before. And that is just pathetic!

I just don't get it how people could see numbers like these and still think Triple H is main event material and should be the figure head of any wrestling show.

The alternative explanation, which would be much worse for the WWF/E, would be the buy rate for Survivor Series was horrid, and people just tuned in to get the results on RAW. The real bump in the ratings is about a .3, as until the drop from hell last week, RAW was in a 3.4-3.5 mode.

I would have to agree. I did not watch Survivor Series. Of course, I didn't watch RAW for the results either, but the casual fan doesn't get the results like we do. I think they watched RAW for the results and hung around because there were so many title changes.
I'm sure the return/debut of Big Poppa Pump helped. Personally, when Ross started hyping HHH, I went to bed. As I said in one of my earlier posts, the guy puts me to sleep now, but the casual fan, who doesn't care about how often HHH is on TV, hung around to see The Game. Poor casual fan.

Or the most valid explanation could be that a single jump in ratings means jack shit and unless they continue to climb next week or at least hold steady, it could be a random freak occurance where more people than the week before felt like watching wrestling. Perhaps there was an influx of senior citizens tuning in to see one of their own as world champion.

Ah sanity at last. I cant believe anybody who isnt being paid for the privelege would actually sit down and analyse short term rating trends in such detail simply to have a dig at HHH or any other wrestler.

Maybe people got bored watching the football, maybe it was raining out and more wrestling fans stayed in, maybe the overall writing was better this week, maybe maybe maybe.

The odd blip means nothing. As a wise man once said theres lies, damned lies and statistics. Try hard enough and you could probably even put a case for Mark Henry as the saviour of the WWE. Or maybe not

Influx of senior citizen viewers? Well, I guess they finally are becoming Nitro and drawing their core viewership.

It's just the usual post PPV spike. When it goes down by .5 next week, everyone will crap themselves again. RAW's ratings are still up compared to where they were five years ago.

Considering that there hasn't been any real post-PPV spike for the 3 previous PPVs. There is one after this PPV of 20% more viewers. That seems like a positive thing. The fact that it comes the same time as a Raw without Triple H also seems like a good sign. I think they are finally getting back the fans that tuned out after the Katie Vick angle.

I hate to say this, but why else would they say "Triple H is on his way to the arena", knowing good and well that he wasn't, if it wasn't that they were afraid that fans would turn away from RAW? It's the only reason I can come up with. Thus, following this logic, I don't see where they are going to attribute this rating to any lack of Triple H, nor will they put more faith in the other talent as a result of this.
