Scott Steiner, the possible return of Austin, Lesnar vs. Lewis... it all seems completely futile to me. Haven't they gone down this path before (Flair, Hall, Nash, Hogan) with pretty much no effect beyond the short term? What will they do if they bring in as many household names as possible, and the ratings continue to fall?

The WWE is probably capable of signing anyone they want to. But will any of that actually do anything?

If they want to hire a "big name" star, let them hire a "big name" star writer. "Star" wrestlers won't help as much as coherent writing would.

P.S. No, I don't mean Vince Russo.

Agreed, but I wonder if that will ever actually happen. I'm not sure if any well-known writer worth their salt (Mick Foley comes to mind) would ever willingly associate themselves with the WWE at this point.

Of course, they could always hire me. I'm a big, well-known writer who would be more than happy to associate myself with WWE.

First, anyone who thinks Scott Steiner is a big star, look at what his singles push did for WCW. He was the last nail in the coffin.
Second, they already have tried every big name on RAW, and after a few weeks, the ratings are lower than when the star debuted. Maybe its time for Vince to take some responsibility, Gerswitz to update his resume, and someone for the love of God take the writing crayon away from Steph/Steph.

I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.

Actually, you touched on an interesting point there. I read somewhere a few months ago that Vince was considering taking in fan ideas and plots and whatnot, I suppose in the same way that Paramount used to allow Trek fans to submit scripts. This could be a pretty good thing to do, considering the good quality of some fan ideas I've seen out there... then again, for every intelligent wrestling fan with writing skill, there are probably about a million with jack squat.

Yes, but the WWE regularly shits on their fans ESPECIALLY the Internet ones, so why would they ask us for help?

Redsoxnation - Amen. Finally, someone speaks the truth about that load Steiner.
