If no other good comes of it...and I think none will...one positive of the Federation's name change this year seems to be easier identification of wrestling fans.

In my Psychology class today, the teacher's assistant was lecturing on defense mechanisms, and used wrestling as an example of sublimation. Actually, she said "WWE wrestling," which set an alarm off in my head, since most "normal" people still call it the WWF.

Yeah, the WWE name is filtering down to the commoners, but most people still would use the old name. It wasn't big news, or the type of info people read/care about out. I realized after hearing that today that there have been several other occasions in the past few months that I've overheard the new initials used (on TV, online, etc, though they escape me at the moment,) and wondered if the person is a wrestling fan.

Just a thought.

Hmmm... good point. Whenever someone mentions the word "wrestling" to a non-fan, usually the first thing that comes to mind, besides Hulk Hogan, are the initials "WWF". However, I've looked at a lot of non-wrestling magazines, and from time to time they mention WWE, not WWF, so this must be how the non-fans know about "WWE".

I dunno...I still use WWF. I've been using it for 15 years or so now, so it rolls off the tounge easier than WWE, that, and I still cringe at WWE-still sounds weird.

"HHH, you should probably do the job here to put RVD over for the good of the company." "Vince, I'm just a caveman! I was out hunting when I fell in some ice and was unfrozen by your scientists. Your future world frightens and confuses me. You say these words like "job" and "put over" and "good of the company" but my primative mind can't grasp these concepts!"---Vince Mcmahon/Unfrozen Caveman Wrestler, Dr. Unlikely 17.9.02

As long as it's WWsomething, I can get used to anything. If they ever changed it to WSomethingW or WSomethingSomething, then I'd have trouble adjusting.

I still use "the WWF" also. I think "the WWE" just sounds funny. Jeremy Schap said "the WWE" this morning on ESPN Radio during an interview with Chris Nowinski. It just doesn't sound right. WWE Champion? Nah.

Well, it isn't The WWE; it's just WWE. Same as it was never The WCW or The ECW.

My Smackdown viewing is impared somewhat without Jamie Noble. I don't get why he has to suffer because of her.
