Please Democratic Party, follow your heart and support Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House of Representatives. If by some mistake you actually support Harold Ford, there would be a Democrat in a leadership position who actually makes sense, which could set an awful precedent. How dare a Democrat actually not want to advocate socialism, but instead economic growth with a reduction in the payroll tax. Crazy ideas like that could provide a vision for the Democratic Party. Thus Democrats, support Pelosi, and Representative Ford, we always have room for you in the Republican Party.
I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.
but instead economic growth with a reduction in the payroll tax.
Find me a democrat who's against payroll tax reductions. It's the GOP that's blocking them. Notice there was no payroll tax reduction in Bush's 2001 tax cut. That might have (gasp) actually cut taxes for someone other than the super-rich. Can't have that now.

The biggest income-earners(and it's NOT the richest, don't be such a tool) PAY THE MOST FUCKING TAXES. Hence, they should get more of their hard-earned money back.

Crazy isn't it? Some people beleive the strangest things. Kinda like how other people out there still say that G.W. Bush was "selected, not elected" as President back in 2000.

Nancy Pelosi is a member of the "Progressive Caucus," a congressional group comprised of 58 representatives and also affiliaited with the International Socialist Organization. (I might have got the name of that group wrong, but, point remains).
Edit: Here, a link. That website may be too biased for some, but I think we can all accept it since it's basically a cut and paste of other sources. The Democratic Socialists of America, who are affiliated with the Progressive Caucus in which Nancy Pelosi serves on the executive board, can be found here. So, yeah, in light of the facts, I do believe this shit.

Go figure...a liberal female congressman from California. WHO KNEW they existed?
Why the hell do I continue to live here? I think this was the only state in the whole nation that had a liberal Democratic love-fest on election night last week. My desire to re-locate to another state grows year by year.

No kidding... And think of what we have to look forward to here in the good old CA... a 3% tax on the sale of your property, an SUV tax, a soda tax, rebated from the power cost gouging NOT going back to the consumer... Oh, and of course 4 more years of gubanatorial whoreing... All I can say is thank GOD I am behind the Orange Curtain....

Having seen Ford on TV, I have to say: What are you THINKING? This man is dynamite. He's young, seemingly very intelligent, articulate, and black. Not only does he put a good PR face on the party, he sounds like he could actually do a good job as minority leader.
What do the 'ville's resident Dems think of the Pelosi nomination? Moe?

Speaking as someone who lives in the general area of Ford's district (he's inner-city Memphis, I live in that area, albeit not in the voting district), the Ford family in general is just ...odd. Fortunately, Harold Jr. has managed to avoid most of the Ford stigma (he's young, I suppose), but all the same, I'd be tentative about supporting someone from that family. I will admit, though, that he does seem to have his head on his shoulders moreso than anyone else in that family (such as John Ford, his uncle, who's got a rap sheet longer than some criminals... and yes, he was in public office 'til recently).
And yes, I do tend more liberal in most things; however, not really knowing much about what's going on, I'll just say that and leave it where it stands.

Pelosi was elected to a leadership slot for essentially one reason: She can raise a shitload of money. See also Murray, Patty and Kennedy, Patrick. Unfortunately the people in the democratic coalition who have money and aren't afriad to part with it are San Francisco Liberals and their ilk (a very different animal from true liberals I might add, but that's another rant). Therefor you get one of them in a major leadership position.
I actually though Marcy Kaptur of Ohio (had a short-lived run, about a half a day) was the best candidate for minority leader. In addition to being an overall good decision, that would at least have reflected the values of the Democratic Party as the party of Main street, not the party of Castro street. Ford is 5 years older than I am. Having been raised with a healthy respect for my elders, I find electing him minority leader at 32 to just be weird.
There's a big difference between the house leader and the "face" of the Democratic Party. Maybe a young, handsome, moderate, black congressman is the face the Dems want to project to the country (seems a pretty popular one, after all that's what J.C. Watts was for the GOP). But in that case, hire Ford as an actor. A real political leader needs more than just to look good on TV. Unfortunately, that's seems to be what gets votes in this country.
There is also a very good opinion article in this week's newsweek about the direction the Democratic Party should take. I'd say I agree with most of it.

She's a real liberal. The fact that she pisses you guys off is a good thing. Personally, we tried the GWB blowjob thing for two years, that didn't work for us. Maybe it's time we start fighting back.
Of course, she'll just roll over and die like Gephardt and Daschle did, so what am I talking about anyway.
