"Oh yeah...!" I understand but don't get so mad...its quite possible he was forced to say that, since they the commentators are trying to help get heat on Lance and them...Jim Ross is smarter then to just say that.
Mattitude(ma't-e-toodeh'): Mattitude, is something that can not be taught or learned. Mattitude is something that burns within. In the ring, Mattitude is the intangible, the x-factor, that gives Matt Hardy Ver.1 an advantage over everyone else.
Doesnt matter, November 11th is NOT an american holiday, and JR should have enough brains to know this and not make such an ignorant statement on camera.

Fuck you, what is veterans day for your ignorant fucked up ass, is rememberance day in canada, and is the day WW1 Ended.
Fuck you jim ross, youre a piece of shit.
yeah, how dare he want the american flag flow in veterns day in america on an event in america and for an american company in a fued w/ wrestlers think they're better than america
seriously, most americans do not pay attention to canadian holidays. like your thanksgiving, Scott Keith would post "Happy Thanksgiving" in his posts on rantsylvania back in the day and everyone was like "WTF? you're a month early?" he'd be like "not in canada" and we'd be all like "OH, we just thought you were high. canadian, eh? that explains it."
unless you were being uber-sarcastic, i think you need to calm down, take a breath, take a nap, and just realize, it's a tv show. fiction. made up.
there are more important things than americans not giving a fuck as to what remembrance day is, ot that it even exists.
any whoooooo... i hope Sarge comes out, it'd be a good way for a nice pop

(edited by rikidozan on 11.11.02 2139) Wrestling has been rhyming with ass. I miss shows and it makes me all shades of ambivalence. WWE is starting to suck again. The crops? Jeezum Spice! Someone stole my crops. What in the ham fat is going on. That's just poo-doo! That's just my 2.4856 Yen.
I'm more pissed that he blew a Twist of Fate call twice.
Know your product! Eh, at least he admitted his mistake the first time.
Don't take ANYTHING the WWE says on RAW or Smackdown, politically or socially as anything more than a part of the TV show. He said it to put heat on Storm and Regal. That's it.
There was nothing malicious about it. There was no evil motive. It was just JR doing his part to get over angles on the show.
Since everyone else is doing it (ok, not EVERYONE, but...)
Vikings (2-7) - I don't know. I didn't see it. Just saw that we lost. Badgers (6-5) - Slipping into mediocrity six weeks in a row. Buffy 7.Uhh Whatever this last one was earns a 7.00000314159 because the begining was terrible, but the meat of the episode was hillarious. But filler. Just like most of Season One...Is this some kind of whacky time warp?
***yeah, how dare he want the american flag flow in veterns day in america on an event in america and for an american company in a fued w/ wrestlers think they're better than america ***
Thats not what he was asking for, he was saying ONLY an american flag should fly, on a day celebrated by the entire fucking world, as the end of the First World War, and remembering ALL who died in armed conflicts.
Saying that the canadian flag shouldnt be flying today is disgusting and an insult, Fuck you for defendign his words Riki.
If I were in Canada, and people were flying the American flag and saying how shitty Canada was and how Canada was a backwards hick nation, I'd probably agree with Ross.
He wasn't saying that ONLY the American flag should be flying ANYWHERE in the World. He was talking about there in the arena. In Cincinnati. In the U.S.

Yeah, you shouldn't care that there's a world outside of the USA. You shouldn't care about the allies that died alongside Americans. You shouldn't care about anyone except Americans, right. How ignorant.
No Excalibur, he specifically said that the canadian and Union Jack should not be flying this day, only the american flag is worthy, he didnt say in the arena, or anything.
He SPAT on my grandfathers grave, and the graves of every british, french, canadian, and every other nations veterans who died liberating the world.
I actually thought the same thing - though not quite as passionately or violently as Galidor. The way Ross put it - he made it sound like Canadian flags had no right flying today, which seems a bit elitish ESPECIALLY considering it is a holiday we share for the same reason, under different labels.
I just think it was another example of JR's continued senility and ignorance, but I'll let it go because he can't tell a Snowplow from a Brainbuster.

It's not about what he said, it's about what he meant. If you listened to him, he said it as "I do not like it that Lance Storm and William Regal are shoving their anti-American attitude in our faces on this day celebrating the men and women who died for the ideals that Storm and Regal hate). I detected no non-story line related ill will in his voice, and I think it's ridiculous to look for some.
My dad's a vetran too. So is my grandfather. As well as many of my other friends and family members, from a few different countries. I'm not offended. I'm not going to get all bent out of shape at some throwaway line on a friggin' TV show that was used to put over a mid-card angle.

Point is, the day is a world-wide event, it is celebrated in many countries (not so much in Germany). It is not just an American holiday. It doesn't matter if JR is in America at the time he says it. It's a morally wrong statement, and he should apologize. Five years ago Shawn Michaels was fucking the Canadian flag on Remembrance Day. I wonder how you'd feel seeing Bret fuck Old Glory on Veteran's Day? RAW is broadcast in like fifteen different countries. WWE made serious coin in Europe last week, while the good ol' USofA can't be payed to show up to these events. He shouldn't have said it. Fuck "getting heat on heels" this is about not acknowledging when people die in a war. That is a little more important than bullshit like sports entertainment, and that goes for ANY sport and ANY form of entertainment. Ross saying ONLY the stars and stripes should fly today is the same as saying the Canadians who died in WWI are worth less than the Americans who did, and that's bullshit. As a dual citizen of Canada and the States, I feel qualified to say JR said something stupid tonight.
No can intelligently dispute this. You can't make a WORLD WAR a part of a wrestling angle. It's disrespectful to men and women who DIED. Just like Sept. 11th should not be made into an angle. And no, I refuse to say it's 'just wrestling'. Fuck that. It's on TV in front of millions and it has a responsibility because of that.
But Galidor, man. Don't just say "fuck you and fuck this", it cheapens your point. I get that you're pissed, but attacking fellow posters with profanity is not the way to go. I am not trying to attack you but we need to be respectful here. I am not always agreed with but I try to be respectful to those who differ with me on points. Just a thought, please don't cuss me out.
Who pissed in your cornflakes? Oh, wait. It was me. My apologies.

I have to agree. WWI and WWII was an international effort. Not just the Americans. As well, the Americans joined late in both World Wars and claimed they were the reason they were both won. Where were the Americans during Vimy Ridge? Exactly.
