Does anyone know if the refs rotate positions (ref, umpire, field judge, etc), like in baseball where an umpire will be at first one day and third the next? It seems like I see the same refs every week, but I was curious.

Are football officials the only ones that have other jobs too? I think baseball umps work in other leagues or spring training in the offseason, but hae you ever heard when the announcers say, he's a schoolteacher, or he's a lawyer? Maybe they would be a little better if they worked on being a ref all the time. I can't wait until they come up with a new spotting system. Robots, lasers, whatever they need. How many times have close games come down to a spot? It is such an inexact science.

I was a junior in high school the year the Bucs lost to the Rams in the NFC title game after a controversial no-catch ruling. A month or so after the season, a seminar for some students at the school featured a guest speaker, the NFL ref who made that call against the Buccaneers. He was actually also the principal at a local school and came to discuss the dificulty in juggling the two jobs.

I had a few questions for him regarding things OTHER than his job as a principal, but they wouldn't let me ask them.

That had to be tough. That was a really crappy end to that game, and I would have been all over that guy.
