Jake's obviously way out there mentally but, he's also very candid which makes for some interesting and strange interviews. He's probably still hitting the rocks and seems to go off in his own direction after a question. Some of his views on the current state of wrestling I agree with and some I don't.

Some things of note from this interview:

- He mentions a couple of times that Lesnar needed the NWO to keep heat on him. What the hell? Did I completely forget something? When was Lesnar involved with the NWO in any angle?

- Some interesting thoughts on some other wrestlers including a story about HHH in a match at South Africa that I would rather not have known about.

- Jake says he told Vince that Steve Austin was his next big star but, Vince didn't think Austin was anything more than a midcarder. Also, Jake says he came up with "Austin 3:16" (I think Austin mentioned that on Howard Stern's show one time) and the never mentioned "Austin's Ten Commandments".

I think there was a mini-alliance brewing between Heyman/Lesnar and the NWO prior to Austin walking out of the company. Remember Lesnar beating up Austin during the lumberjack on RAW. Hell, let Jake and Dingbat Warrior just give shoot interviews at each other all day. Make Pat Caddell host of the show, and it would at least be humorous.

I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.

The only thing I recall between Lesnar and the nWo was after Booker T got kicked out of the group. He and Lesnar had a qualifying match for King of the Ring, and Heyman had to go so far as to hold onto Big Show's leg to get him not to interfere (and thus get Lesnar disqualified).

I remember a backstage skit where Brock and Heyman went in to tell the NWO not to interfer and HBK and Pac stood up to Heyman, so Brock pushed Heyman aside and then Nash stood up over Brock and they had a little stare off.

Midterms suck, but not as bad as necro angles.

If it's true that Jake came up with Austin 3:16 (and by now, it's apparent it is), then he truly is the biggest tragedy in wrestling history. You talk about Big Show being the biggest waste of potential, Jake could have made the industry MILLIONS with his knowledge of the business. Had he not fallen off the wagon so many times, he'd be a huge exec in Titan Towers. Hell, he could have made Paul Heyman look like Brian Gerwitz in comparison.

Well, JR says in Beyond the Mat that if Jake could "control the demons" he'd be one of the most influential creative forces in the industry...

That was pretty high praise, even coming from a bullshit artist.

If Jake Roberts really came up with Austin 3:16, then he was a bigger genius than I thought. What a colossal waste.

If I remember correctly, didn't Jake take the blame for the reaction to the Pillman/Austin gunshot angle?

I'll be at the Rumble, but you can have my seat if the Undertaker raises Al Wilson's corpse from the dead so he can help Torrie win. I will pack up my shit and leave right then.
