And what about Clinton? The states where he went out in campaigned suffered the Democrats some of their biggest losses... who can help the Demos bounce back from this?

Let's see, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend will do wonders as a Democratic VP in '04. Oh wait, she lost. Governor of Georgia is following the Jimmy Carter strategy of '76. Oh wait, he lost. Since Dub is learning the Ronald Reagan strategy: Let the media think your an idiot, but the public likes you, I see great difficulty for the Democrats in '04, especially if Gore decides to run again (NY might be in play if that happens). The Democrats are in trouble in '04, and probably should just run Gore to keep anyone else from being damaged. Then, and I hate this, you set up '08 Family Dynasties Clash between Jeb and Hillary and the Democrats might actually have a decent shot of pulling that one off.
I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.
God... Hillary is president... she is WORSE than Clinton in that she is smarter... oiy... I actually don't see either of them running (Jeb/Clinton) running in 2008.... I actually see Rudy Guilianni (I have no idea if I spelled his name right) or Powell on the Republican side. Hopefully it is no one I have even heard of on the Democrat side... for their sake. They really need new blood fast right now... In fact, I would not be surprised to see a VP replacement in 2004, Rudy for Dick...

Powell doesn't want to run. Gulianni would probably be a brilliant move if he's interested, but I don't know how much 9/11 Goodwill will be left by fall of 2008.
And I don't think Hillary could win if she ran. I'd vote for her, but the people that hate her hate her with a *passion*.
"But the funniest thing was, when I was leaving the bay I saw three ships a-sailin', and they were all headed my way I asked the captain what his name was, and how come he didn't drive a truck He said his name was Columbus, I just said 'Good luck'. " ---"Bob Dylan's 115th Dream"
The best case scenario for the Dems in 2004 is to run the leftiest guy, just to get the issues out there in a way that can't be ignored by the media. He'll lose of course, but everyone will expect him to lose, so if he does "better than expected," maybe the ideas will catch on and we can build off of it. Or maybe the GOP will screw this country up so bad that he'll actually win. That wouldn't surprise me at all.
Expressing myself EVERY day - but especially on July 22, 2002!

If Hillary ran I would actually drive to the nearest GOP campaign HQ and offer my time as a volunteer. I don't care if it's stuffing envelopes or handing out flyers or ANYTHING. Having her run would energise me in a way that I doubt would happen under any other circumstance. I despise that woman. So yeh, I agree with OFB about the passion thing :)

This could explain why Gary Hart is talking about running...
As far as 2008 goes, there is a name out there that you can't rule out for the GOP nomination; Bob Ehrlich. If he can win a second term in the newly-liberated People's Republic of Maryland, then he certainly could bea front-runner.
Yikes....Sanford is quite the dumbass for pulling a stunt like this. It's not like we weren't already getting ready for war or anything when he signed up.
