I consider giving Russo a concussion and forcing him out of wrestling, writing, WCW, and more or less the industry entirely the only worthwhile thing Goldberg has contributed to pro wrestling.
That whole jobbing to a limo window was awesome too, but it only put Goldberg out for a matter of months, and not permanently.
No matter how bad things may get, just imagine what would happen if Vince Russo was booking again, and you will feel better.
Well, hell. All of the Rumble matches had no run-ins (save for an inconsequential SCRI during the Jericho/Rock match). As to clean finishes, the WWF title match ended as cleanly as possible, and the only blatant example of cheating was from Regal, whose gimmick is to cheat anyway.
That will change when the NWO debuts, of course. But for now, things are relatively clean and decisive. Enjoy it while you can.

Probably that thing that made Russo work for the WWF was him working together with Vince and others. In WCW he had full control and he had become a name himself, being bought away from one company to the other. That would go to my head too.. He was hailed as a savior and got away with alot of things that weren't good for wcw after all.
In WCW, wasn't he the man that pushed Booker T, Scott Steiner, Jeff Jarrett and Chris Benoit to the top? ( I might be wrong, I forgot when he was or wasn't around)
If Russo is THE answer for the WWF, then I ask what is the question? Why can't solid yet entertaining booking bring them ratings as well? I am sure it can, and it will..with or without Vince Russo..

they dont need to bring someone in back stage who's ego would try to run the whole company.... and they would be bringing him in to have some directional control?... no thank you
I AM THE BEST there is, was and ever will be!!!! Dont you wish that you were me??? no?.... i've got two words for ya!
OK, I just have two thoughts on this whole little thread.
1) I don't think Russo's style is "back" in the WWF, since most of the matches have some sort of definitive finish, the level of grossness and T&A has gone way down, and WWF TV isn't all crash TV (nor is it Crash Holly TV, thank you, try the veal!).
2) No, the WWF doesn't need Vince Russo back. All it needs is that one big-time angle to get people interested. InVasion was supposed to be that angle, but things didn't work out (it started off bad, injuries, missteps along the way, etc.). Vince McMahon thinks this upcoming angle with the nWo will be that angle, and it's intriguing me; so let's not jump on the "WE NEED RUSSO or WE NEED _____ BACK" bandwagon until we know this next big-time angle blows chunks.
...Some fear the Pink... ...But many fear....THE MOUNTIE! (He's handsome, he's brave, and he's strong, you know)
Memory's extremely foggy right now (damn Smirnoff), but didn't the McMahon-Helmsley era start AFTER Vinnie Ru left to kill WCW?
HHH was the champion beforehand, but that whole spiel cemented his status as a top carder in the WWF for as long as he wanted it.
And while Russo may or may not have led to the success of Rocky, Austin, and Kane, he also provided such gems as Beaver Cleavage, and the Race Wars.

The point is, Russo came up with the Austin character after he was the "Ringmaster", Russo came up with the Nation and DX. Also the Nation Vs. DX which propelled Rocky and HHH to superstardom. Kane was a total Russo creation. The neverending UT/Austin fued was a Russo creation. Of course it gave us some stupid moments, the embalming story, but it gave us some good TV. The Higher Power was one hell of an angle with a terrible payoff, but for weeks and weeks it kept us entertained. The Austin/HBK WM buildup was awesome also. It was just fun TV back then.
Russo gave us some stupid TV in the WWF, but at the same time he gave us some good stuff too. Like I said before, Austin, The Rock, HHH, Kane got their real first successful pushes under Russo's pen. He created new stars, something the WWF doesn't seem interested in doing now. Do I think he should come back? I think with him, Heyman and Vince together, the product would be totally disjointed and have more resets than my defective Playstation 2. So having him back right now would not be a good idea. But I will give Russo props for what he did while in the WWF.
