...as long as you are voting for Simon for governor. Otherwise, sleep in.
(obviously this is a California thing)

Your analogy is similar to:

"They already have cars that you can drive, why not blenders?"
"I can already write with my hands, why not my pancreas?"
"They already have beef that I can eat, why not granite?"

-- my new favorite quote from Slashdot comments.

Obviously.

Actually, I will be glad when the election is over, so I wont have to hear those stupid ads anymore.

DUDE.

Those "He's a career politician while I'm just a regular guy who happens to be in politics" ads took over an ENTIRE commercial break during The Simpsons last night. I didnt appreciate that one bit.

Meanwhile, I've been on the fence for awhile, but I think I'm finally leaning towards Simon.

First off, I 2nd the motion. Get out and vote today...where ever you are. Second, I agree...about the best thing that'll come out of this election is the end of the ads.

There are so many close races, such as the Governor's race here in WI, that today more than most elections, your vote really does count.

So...good luck to everyone, liberal, conservative, or otherwise. Just make sure to vote...it's a privilege that not all peoples in the world have.

If you are an American citizen who is over 18 and you don't vote today, I sincerely hope you never post on this board again because you entire opinion becomes null and void in my book. Except, of course, for Grimis, Pool-Boy, PalpatineW, DMC and any of their other fellow conservatives. To them, I say - voting is wussies. You don't wanna be a wussie, do you? :)

Gee... I love your idea of Democracy! Hey everyone! Get out and vote! Unless, of course, you are Conservative, because then what you think does not mean anything.
Personally, I have never once voted down party lines, and I am not about to start today. Don't make me go off on a tirade about irresponsible voting again!
I say EVERYONE here should go vote today... and please, read through the canditates/issues and vote for the best ones, not just whether they have Democrat or Republican listed as the party!

True- if you want to get really technical, we live in a Republic, not a Democracy...
And I would not go so far as to say that Democrat=Republicans... there are some pretty strong differences. It just seems like sometimes, the type of PERSON on either side is the same...

Made it to my polling place at 7:05 AM this morning and cast my vote. My vote was more along the lines of who was against putting slot machines at certain racetracks in PA (I live in the shadow of one and do not want the extra traffic, crime, etc. that it would bring.)

Well, I went out and did my civic duty, and have a couple of thoughts from it:

-Ballots where you darken a circle creep me out. I keep waiting to get back the results that tell me if I voted correctly or not, and if my scores earned National Merit Scholar consideration.

-I felt a little dirty voting for Lisa Madigan for IL attorney general after all the jokes I made about Dubya and Jeb riding their daddy's coattails, but I think my hand would have fallen off had I voted for Joe Birkett.

-I hate unopposed elections, and I think it speaks to a problem in the system, at least here in IL where you need signatures to get on ballots. You can't tell me that not one person wanted to run for State Senator who happened to be a Democrat in my district, but having to get however many petitions signed surely dampened the fire of some who might have.

-I thought it was kind of shady that, considering the quite-justified no electioneering laws (can't pass out literature or anything within like 50 ft. of a polling place), yet because my polling place is a church, they just happened to choose right this week to set up 4000 white crosses and a huge "PRAY TO END ABORTION" sign up right outside the entrance. Considering how polarized the candidates running in this state are on the issue, I thought it was like a giant ad for the GOP just as you walk in the door. Not illegal, but just shady.

Why the hell are they holding elections in a church in the first place? If there ever is a time for separation of church and state, where ballots are cast should be the place.

To my chagrin, I learned today that I registered too late, and unless I want to head back to D.C. (where you can't vote for shit anyway), that I would not be voting today. Oh well, we don't really have any competitive races here anyway. Except for Comptroller, which is really nothing more than a glorified (and highly paid) cross betweem an investment manager and an accountant.

You can't tell me that not one person wanted to run for State Senator who happened to be a Democrat in my district

You live in Chicago and you can't get a Democrat on the ballot for State Senate in your district? Richard Daly must be turning over in his grave.
