Since his stroke, Bret Hart has had regular contact with Vince McMahon. McMahon would like nothing more than to have Bret return to WWE to vindicate him against those who condemn his treatment of Hart and the Hart family.
In particular, the Bret Hart commercials for WWE Anthology are said to be McMahon's way of featuring Bret in a positive nature on WWE TV, and attempt to mend fences.

I would love to see this happen, but it depends in what context. Can Bret ever wrestle again? If no -- and I believe he can't because of the concussion, if no other reason -- then I'd rather not see him return in a regular role.
Bret was always great on the mic. Especially when he had the broken leg and was doing the Anti-USA angle. That was when Bret rocked. But does he still even like wrestling enough to have the motivation to give us the same level he did before? Even if he's only a mouthpiece?
Is a Bret Hart who cannot wrestle worth having in the WWE?
Does that mean that McMahon wants to show The Warrior and Gangrel in a positive light as well, since he used them in commercials?
Before the split, I wanted to see Bret come in as the mouthpiece manager of a new Hart foundation starring Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Lance Storm and Justin Credible (unless there's another Dungeon graduate better than Credible on roster right now that I'm unaware of.) Now, however, I think he'd still be great as a manager type for Chris Benoit. He could improve Benoit's promos tenfold and bring Benoit's focus around to give him a legit world title push.
Originally posted by Mike SweetserCredible wasn't in the Dungeon, IIRC, but was just trained mostly by Lance Storm. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm pretty sure I read that Credible was trained in the Dungeon on their official site, which I can't find now but I think it disappeared when stampedewrestling.com was redesigned. I found another page that listed Credible as a Dungeon graduate too, but I'm not sure how accurate that site was. It also claimed that Raven was trained by DDP and Nash, but hasn't Raven been wrestling longer than either of them? If it was correct, then I think that says a hell of a lot for Raven's natural abilities. And if Credible isn't a Dungeon graduate, they could have always made Shane happy and brought back Blackman.
At this point, Bret will be returning the week after Yokozuna makes his long awaited return. Do you think Bret would actually (unless desperate for cash) be in a situation where HBK will be taking shots at him?
I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.
If they're on different shows, then I see no reason why Bret wouldn't come back. He's seemingly gotten over his "Vince is the devil" thing and Vince holds the one thing Bret wants more than anything -- the rights to his entire career on video.
He'll be back. It's only a matter of time. I say before Wrestlemania.
I don't know that I would really like to see him back on a permanent basis. I would like to just see at like Wrestlemania or something Vince give Bret 5 minutes just to come into the ring, say goodbye and thank you to the WWE fans, and let this awful story come to some sort of positive end.
I think that the idea of having him come in and manage Chris Benoit or perhaps both Benoit and Angle is a magnificent idea. The only problem would be somehow getting Benoit to have some sort of sustained face heat (or ANY heat, for that matter), but they can work through that stuff.
There's so many things that can be done to draw money with Bret, and even at this point in his career he can STILL get in the ring and have a brawl with Vince that won't damage him too much. Just stay away from the head shots and he'll be okay.
Shoot, while I'm at it, here's a few matches I'd like to see at Wrestlemania next year.
WWE Championship Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar (c)
World Championship Steve Austin (c) vs. Goldberg
WWE Tag Team Titles The Guerreros (c) vs. Benoit/Ultimo Dragon
Bret Hart had a stroke and he's re-learning how to walk, so he can't work any sort of match with Vince.
Plus, Bret doesn't want his whole life turned into an angle so if he does show up, I don't think it'd be to do a feud with Vince.
The chances of him actually showing up on TV down the road are probably better than they've ever been though. Vince wanted Bret to appear on the Montreal Raw but he wasn't ready to.
Hum... seeing as there may be a PPV in store for Montreal (according to SLAM! Wrestling: "The WWE will hold its No Way Out pay-per-view Feb. 23 in Montreal"), a Bret Hart "farewell" would be really nice!
Maybe Bret could be the special guest referee for a Chris Benoit-Lance Storm scientific match and at the end, they all shake hands, hug, and acknowledge the crowd?

Triple H's Theme ----------------------
Time to flame the lame Time to flame the lame
It's all about the game, and how you play it I hunger for control, That why I'm with Stephanie It's all about the lame, and Vince has gotta pay me I am the lame You don't want to like me I want control I used to do Joanie I am Kev's bitch But people still hate me I am the lame and Zenk is going to flame me
Well, I am not so sure Bret was right in the head in the first place... so maybe the brain damage killed the "Ultra-Paranoid" brain cells, returning Bret to a somewhat normal state of mind. Then again, the feud could have been a work all of these years, and will Bret's stroke, maybe he thinks it is time to bury the angle...

For those of us in Canada...check out the National Post this weekend. In their Saturday Night magazine insert, there's a pretty decent interview with Vampiro. I found it to be a decent read.
