it works on the same principle as the lying on a bed of nails thing. if the pressure is spread out wide enough, no cuts. Pressure in small area, you get cuts. if you put all your weight on your big toe, you will jab a piece of glass into it, if it is spread over the whole foot, you shouldn't.

In grade school our class went to the science centre and somehow I was nominated to be the guinea pig for the bed of nails experiment. The science lady explained I shouldn't worry (reasons Fuzzy stated). I did it and got up and she said "I shouldn't drink anything for a few hours because of the holes" (lol) for a second there I believed her =)

Good luck with G&G. I *want* to see it, but a friend who saw a sneak preview said the whole experience was about 4 hours (with previews, ads, etc...) And I don't know if I have it in me to sit in a theatre that long.
