I don't count the Bruins as a surprise. They've had most of the pieces for a couple of years now, and now they're finally starting to put things together the right way. I see Joe Thornton becoming the monster that guys like Lindros and Gratton weren't able to become. Hopefully Boston won't find a way to piss him off or throw him away. Mind you, they'll still probably find a way to lose to the Habs in the playoffs, but still...
The biggest surprise to me has been Mario Lemieux. I used to hate the guy soooo much because he was 6'4", 215lbs, handled himself like a porcelain doll, and whined constantly. I think I'm old enough now to realize that when you're scoring 3-4 points a game you really don't need to be playing the body all that much For a guy as old and broken as he is, he's certainly making me wonder whether he might have been the best pure offensive player in the history of the league.

how come you're so afraid of things that dont make any sense to you? do you water your raisins daily? do you have any raisins? is there anything that does make sense to you? are you afraid of twelve button suits? how come you're so afraid to stop talking?

They lost their top scorer - Bill Guerin. Their top defenseman (Kyle McLaren) is holding out. The goalie that has played in most of the games the last 5 years (Byron Dafoe) is not on the squad. They are using duct tape goalies! John Grahame? Steve Shields? Tim Thomas? TIM THOMAS? Sergei Samsonov and Martin Lapointe didn't play last night either!
Plus all these games were on the road. They don't have a home game until Thursday!
Yup, this is a surprise, 4-1-1 especially after losing 5-1 to the Wild on opening night.
He's Rolie Polie Olie - and in his world of curves and curls, he's the swellest kid around.
the biggest surprise is that Byron Dafoe is still without a job. A quality goaltender like him should have a contract.
Also, gotta go with the Panthers and the Lightning. Looking very good...but will it last.
Disappointment....
BELFOUR----What a complete wash up as of right now. The Leafs as a team are pretty bad, although they are getting great scoring out of Mogilny, Sundin and Tucker...after that...you got nothing.
I would have to go with Prongers Doctor. Poor guy! 3 operations later and he is still suffering from extreme pain. Great Talent, Bum Wrist!
Oh and....GO SENS!
How much wood can a wood chuck chuck, if a wood chuck could chuck wood?
Biggest Disapointment: The number of injuries on big name players... I can't even begin to count the number of top guys who are out right now because of one thing or another.
The other disappointment of course is having what appears to be an awesome fantasy hockey team on paper turn out to be garbage. Leclair is the ONLY guy producing. I don't know what happened in the offseason, but the guys I figured as solid names have done nothing.

Again it seems to be this little thing of just getting it together. I will always hope that next game will be the big turn around.. Last year would have been a good year if it hadn't been for the final stretch..This year will..MUST be better!
The only person who is capable of carrying a broom to a five star outing is none other than.... Torri Welles

You gotta be kidding me. He's 1-1-1 with a 1.95 GAA and a .933 save percentage. He's not the Leafs problem. Your second statement is the problem, along with a brutal D.
Svehla and Kaberle are scoring, but seem to have forgotten that they are defensemen. McCabe has been terrible and the rest are.... well the rest.
Biggest surprise - Tampa, Bruins, Mario L
I did not think Mario would be playing as often as he is and as well...
Disappointment - Rangers, but I think they'll come together. They should be signing Dafoe!!!

Yeah, you're right. Super Mario Vs the former Mario Jr. all year long for the scoring title. By the way, if the first meeting between Pittsburgh and Washington is a small preview.....bring on some more. Great game.
Another dissapointment: Jason Allison out for 8 to 12 weeks. It was a clean hit by Sutton, in my view, and it just puts the Kings in a horrible position. Allison is gone, Deadmarsh may have broken his hand and Palffy is already out, but set to return on Oct. 31st.
