Just so i know and since this is a football forum, how many of you have seen Australian football (Any type) and what do you reckon of the action. doesn't matter if you don't know whats going on i'm talking about the hits since there's no helmets or shoulder pads.
These commercials are superfine because they pay for the production costs of putting CHRIS MOTHERFUCKING BENOIT on my GODDAMN TV SCREEN! I will GO GREYHOUND! I am thinking OUTSIDE THE BUN! – Dean Rasmussen 8/1/2002 Smackdown Workrate Report
I'll watch Aussie Rules Football every chance I get. My favorite bit is the umpire's signal for a good kick. And yes, those guys are totally fscking loco. The only game I can think of that's potentially more brutal is hurling (like hockey, it's guys with sticks; unlike hockey, they don't wear pads).

how come you're so afraid of things that dont make any sense to you? do you water your raisins daily? do you have any raisins? is there anything that does make sense to you? are you afraid of twelve button suits? how come you're so afraid to stop talking?
I'm an Aussie Rules fan. when I had a digital hook-up, I was watching it every week on Fox Sports World. I still visit the AFL site every now an then. I too miss the days when it was on ESPN. Fox Sports Net showed it for a while.

Used to watch back in the mid 80's when it was an ESPN late night staple and we had all just got back from the bar - brutal - nothing beats the "point"

I Aussie Rules. I canceled out on a friend who was offering me free drinks all night a few weeks back because Fox Sports World was showing the Grand Final live. This is the first year in a couple though that I was able to get back into the game enough through FSW and The Age's coverage that I knew pretty much everything that was going on. I truly think that if someone found a good way to market it here that AFL style ball could become a nice little niche sport in America. Oh, and GO PIES! BUCKLEY IS GOD!
I miss the footy. I haven't been able to watch AFL for several years. The last time I saw it, it was on PRIME Sports Northwest, before Fox bought them out. How ancient is that?
I got into AFL in 1982 when they were showing it on ESPN. I started watching every week and became a supporter of Essendon. I've been to Australia eight times for business since 1992 and would stock up on AFL books and gear. I would watch all the reports and matches when I was there (about 3-6 weeks each time). I also always watched Neighbours every day (Nicola Charles is incredible). In 1996, I was lucky enough to watch the Grand Final at the MCG and North Melbourne destroyed the Sydney Swans and the grand old man "Plugger".
"Well, you can't involve friendship with business. It has to be one or the other. It's either business or friendship, or hit the bricks!" --Life Lessons from "The Tao of Bobby the Brain Heenan" Uncensored 2000 preview
*sigh* 26 000 km to escape this ridiculous game and I find it here of all places. I think you are all seriously deluded, there is only one real sport played in my old stomping ground and that's Rugby League. AFL tackling is roughly equivalent to what occurs past the line of scrimage (spelling- I'm foreign). Nothing. Pads or no pads, it's not a truly tough sport.
Zim, you're correct about rugby being the most insanely violent thing people do to each other which isn't illegal or banned by one of the ten commandments. Personally though I'm not just about violence, I love the open play of AFL. Rugby gets too plodding and clogged for my taste. And I'm sorry, but this year's Grand Final was probably one of the 3 or 4 most intense games of any sport I have ever seen.
Unimpressed? Why? I am sure that Grossman will turn out every bit as well as the last first round QB pick, the great "All-American" Cade McNown!!!! Another Bears QB star in the making. How do they keep doing it!
