[Note: I'm getting all of this info from the recaps, so play nice with me...]
The Tough Enough series has certainly been filled with drama. A guy faked passing out a few times to try and get out of a workout. The participants have regularly gotten drunk at parties. I believe last season, two of the cast members had an affair. I don't know, I've never caught the show, because Indy time is so screwed up that Tough Enough and SmackDown! are on simultaneously. So even when I get Thursday nights off (which is almost never), given the option between SmackDown! and Tough Enough, you know which one I'm picking.
Anyway, my point is this:
It seems to me that a lot of these kids simply aren't serious about making it in the business. They don't have any respect for the business. A lot of them seem to consider Tough Enough to be their forum for goofing off and acting like assholes on national television. Again, since I've never actually seen the show, I won't say they're all doing that, or that even most of them are doing that. But certainly a good number of them are just... well... fucking around.
It makes me wonder-- does anyone know rather TE is, in fact, scripted like RAW or SmackDown? Even though it's a “reality show”, some of these people just seem like borderline (or south-of-the-border) lunatics. I mean, hell... if I was on Tough Enough, I'm not a naturally athletic person but you'd better believe I'd be working my ass off. Screw going to parties, I'd be in the gym, or watching wrestling tapes, I'd be keeping myself completely focused on being the best I can be. I mean, damn... this is not some beauty pageant. The winner recieves a freaking WWE developmental contract, for crying out loud. WWE doesn't simply give those away.
Enough Tough Enough contestants have been acting like they're not serious about it at all. I don't know whether to chalk it up to immaturity, or to start questioning the legtimacy of this “reality show”. Is Tough Enough actually happening naturally, or is it scripted? I wouldn't put it past Vince McMahon to find some of these assinine TE contestants to be “entertaining”, you know.
“But I don't want to go around mad people!” “Oh, you can't help that. Most everyone's mad here... You may have noticed that I'm not all here myself.”

All reality shows have their contestants picked so that they will have interesting chemistry together. I also belive that on most, they are told "hey... when the camera is on you, act like a bunch of morons"... but that is also the natural response of many people when they's on camera, and gonna be on the teevee.
As for what I'd do, well... whenever it came time to go out and party, if I had to go, I'd find the nearest bloody pool or snooker table, get some scotch (and water after a few of those), and proceed to make an ass of myself by demonstrating what a horrible pool/snooker player I am. Or make an ass of myself on the dance floor (from my badass dance skillz, not from trying to get one of the chicks in the sack). The rest of my free time would be spent reading, watchin' tapes and cookin'. Cookin' chinese food and balogna. By free time I mean time not spent training. I would be busting my everloving ass at trainin' times, because I'd want to get a contract, damnit.
Tough Enough has to have some similarities to other Mtv reality shows, like Road Rules and Real World. That's how people like Puck get on tv. They want people with these kinds of personalities to effect the chemistry of the house.
As far as this season, from what I've seen, these are party people who want to hook-up and then wrestle. It makes for good tv, but as a fan of wrestling, I don't look forward to seeing any of the people here in a ring. It's messed up when you hear stories about current WWE wrestlers who worked indy shows, slept in rings/cars/rest areas, made MAYBE $50 and then you see people like this...
These people are given an opportunity that I'm sure some hardcore fan here didn't get because they mean good ratings. It's an insult to every wrestler who is in the WWE, who got there after years of struggling.

But that's my opinion.

I agreed with that at first, but, despite how poorly Tough Enough II seems to have turned out, they've gotten three talented, viable wrestlers out of the series thusfar, and I honestly think that's more than they were hoping for.

Well, I did say....
As far as this season
Tough Enough II was an utter waste, in my opinion. Linda Miles wasn't as bad as Jackie Gayda, but I'm still with the opinion that one person of each sex should have been chosen. Maybe that's why this season isn't doing anything for me. A guy faking sick to get out of workouts just doesn't cut my mustard.
Maybe people with REAL desire didn't audition because of last seasons debacle. Two men, with great potential, were overlooked in favor of Jackie Gayda. That would have turned me off from auditioning.
If I were MTV and WWE, which, by looking at my bank account, I am assuming I am not, I would make the next Tough Enough open ONLY to Indy talent. Take some of those guys and gals who can actually WORK a little, and just put them through the paces. Surely some of them would be able to make some kind of impact, if they had better training and guidanc from bonafide WWE veterans.
Either that or all midgets. Either way, it would make a better show.
That would be assuming the purpose of Tough Enough is to actually find new wrestlers, when in reality the purpose of Tough Enough is putting on an entertaining reality show that will draw ratings. I think as such, it works better as 'average Joe's' getting an opportunity for the big time.
I watched the first show tonight of the new season. I don't know what's in store fo the rest of them, but Bill Demott came across as pretty angry and mean. Too bad he couldn't get a feud with Tazz after the season wraps up. Come out of the crowd and attack him from behind. Maybe even while the TE3 winner takes out Michael Cole. It could be a cool "farewell as a wrestler" feud for Tazz. When Demott loses the blow-off pay-per-view match, he could beat up the TE3 winner (assuming it will be a guy) to get some heat back.
I dont think the guy with the fucked up hair sucked, I just think for whatever reason, they didnt think they could do anything with them. Either way, at least we dont have to be force fed those "winners" on a weekly basis.
As far as Bill having a fued with Taz, that would be GREAT! Have Taz talking smack about how the Tough enough guys from season three cant beat the ones from season one. Have ita big, 6 man tag team brawl! IN A CAGE!

But there was a whole episode about how he was incapable of getting anything right in the ring! Am I the only one who remembers this?
Rip says death is too good for you. Rip says the worms are too good for you. Rip says the maggots would choke on your rotting flesh.
Well, there was Bobbie Jo from TE1. The girl signed up for Tough Enough because she thought she could get into Playboy if she won a WWF contract. If that doesn't say "not serious," I just don't know what does.

Looking back, yeah, I sorta remember he had a hard time putting moves together. But still.....
The first season of Tough Enough was awesome because you had kids who were serious about making it as pro wrestlers and not just "television personalities." With the notable exception of Bobbie Jo, most of those kids had a dream of being wrestlers and in turn, I think that season was the most enjoyable of all of them. Now that people have seen what TE has done for Maven, Nidia, and Nowinski, they're starting to turn out in flocks for the chance to get on TV...not to be a wrestler.

Man, Tough Enough is just like Survivor or any other "reality TV" show. They edit the tape to make the people look like however they want them to look. Gayda looked very good in the last episodes, and look how that turned out.
If this is reality, someone really needs to call the cops on Dario Cueto. He's great, but I'm pretty sure he's kidnapping someone right now, and let's not even get started on what happened to poor Bael.
