I'm going with Jill (Damn, she's fine) and Matt to win. Of course, it's way too early to predict anything, but what the hell. (My picks are more often than not the first ones to go: Even when it came to the finals, Maven is the only one of the four I thought might actually win).

Well, I was completely wrong again, so I guess that means Matt gets cut next.

I guess they tried to fit as much Jill as possible, since she was the best soap opera reason to watch (hot + history with Jonah), but I was pretty surprised Scott didn't get cut, too. Of course, even Darryl was able to last a few weeks since people dropped out instead of being cut. Next week looks to be the start of the "Lisa Goes Insane" storyline, so there's something to look forward to.

I was really excited to see the first episode, lots of action, lot of them working out, and interview segments. Then, it becomes THE REAL WORLD and we have to hear all that BS again. Just show them training, and small, interviews that relate to the story of who is getting cut and why.

I was thinking that Jill was going to win also. But it looks like another major change this time is that they're handling quitters quite differently. Very interesting. I was always sort of surprised that they let people quit so easily during the first two seasons. I'm not sure if this new approach is to intimidate people who are thinking about quitting or if it's for better television. It's probably both. I think they set a tone during the first two seasons that it's OK to quit, and they're trying to reverse that some. But man, I sure did feel sympathy for Jill when she was sitting in that chair and Big was talking.

Nobody is really standing out among the men to me yet. Among the women, it seems Jamie and Rebekah have the most promise.

And I think the fact that there are a few guy-girl pairings in rooms means they're not going to discourage any Pete-Jackie storylines.

I think the fact that they accepted a couple that had previously hooked up means they aren't going to discourage any Pete - Jackie storylines. Heck, they TOOK Jackie. That's about as much encouragement as they can give!!!

Can anyone recap what happened? How do they deal with quitters this time?

They didn't say, "Oh, it's okay, this isn't for everyone." Big got seriously pissed and made Jill sit in front of everyone while they each said, "I'm happy to see you leave since it means I have a better chance of winning" or "I don't want you to leave, 'cause I want to get in your pants" (paraphrased from Jonah).

Then Big yelled some more and she was sent packing WITHOUT her dignity. She owed it to the people who weren't cut earlier to stick with it, and she pussed out even when she knew first hand how tough it really was.

Eh... she could still get it.

Edit: By saying, "she could still get it," I wasn't implying that she still had a chance to win the contest, I was implying something completely different.

So she didn't quit or did she?

I couldn't feel any sympathy for Jill at all. I don't know if the events played out exactly as we saw on the show, but with the editing they did, they made it look like Jill left just because Jonah still had a girlfriend (favorite quote: Justin to Jonah: "you're a meatball"). I thought she had a lot of heart for taking all those bumps with having just getting her freaking wisdom teeth extracted. I mean, I had a single wisdom tooth extracted on two separate occasions, and that isn't any kind of fun. She sticks through all that crap, all the bumps, the throbbing pain, the blood all over her pillow, yet runs out right after Jonah tells her he's still two timing.

I have to agree with Big. Like he said, people left the casting show in tears when they lost their chance for their dream and she quits after one day.

Al Snow is a very patient man and Hugh G. Rection scares me. I was flinching every time Scott would screw up that front bump. I thought Bill was going to go off on him again. Then, after I have that sympathy for the guy, he goes and gets drunk and acts like a total ass.

I don't feel they let people quit too easily. If they have even a tiny bit of 'quit' in them, they don't belong there. They owe it to everyone who was ever cut from the casting of seasons I, II, and III, and I think they owe it to all the guys who worked their ass off and never got a shot. I do get embarassed for them when they quit so easily. The training is only a few weeks.

Edit:

She's gone. She quit, and Big went off and threw her ass out. That's where you got the "spitting" line from the commercials. To paraphrase: "You spit on overyone here. You spit on ME. You spit on me, I spit on YOU. Get Up, Get out!" It looked pretty final to me.

Oh well. No tears shed for Jill. If you don't want it, you shouldn't even be there in the first place. She got what she had coming.

Good show tonight and the personal highlight for me was seeing TAFKA Hugh Morrus bitch out Scott. There's nothing humorous about Bill DeMott.

Why yes, I DID have to say that, why do you ask?

Too much Real World, this week.

I was relieved that Jill quit, because I didn't want another Hot Tub incident.

I'd compare Scott to Hawk, one of the few bright spots from TEII. I wonder how long Scott will last.

Next week, Psycho Lisa.

I agree about the Scott/Hawk corollation. I half expected Scott to offer to shave his head if he could get out of doing that bump. And really, how hard is it to put your hands on a guy's shoulder and flip over? I can't wait to see him try a moonsault.

I think the editing might have been a little faulty, here. Considering she left after one day, I don't think she exactly "toughed it out" that much - they did *some* bump-taking in the qualification round, but not a full day of it, like the first day of training. Taking all those bumps after having yer wisdom teeth out would hurt like *hell*, and I can understand (to some extent) quitting from all the pain. But if that Jonah thing played any part whatsoever in her decision... she deserved every last bit of the "I spit on YOU" stuff, and probably more. Plus, The General gave her a chance to take the rest of the day off or get medical help that first day and she refused, so if she couldn't take the pain she was given a way out. I have a little sympathy for her, but not much.

As for Scott, every time I started to feel bad for the guy, he'd do/say something stupid to make me hate him again. "So, are there a lot of fags in San Francisco?" And then he flipped on the 'rents and got all drunk and... geez. Didn't quite have the taggin' skillZ, either.

I'm rooting for Matt, based mostly on looks - and he was trying to be nice to Scott, too. I get the feeling they'll be taking 2 guys this year - LawnGuyland Jill is gone, Psycho Kelly ain't makin' it, Lisa's waaay too Generic-Suburban-WASP, Hooter's Girl Rebekah - they might take her, but I she's damn annoying, I hope not, and Jamie - well, we haven't seen much'o'her yet, but she seems kinda bland.

Actually, never mind all that. I just looked at the bios on wwetoughenough.com - they're definitely gonna take Rebekah.

She’s a seemingly sweet Southern virgin and a devout Christian, but this 23-year old former Hooter’s waitress may have a wild side bubbling under her calm, gentle exterior. Rebekah confesses she thinks it would be fun to play a “she-devil slut,” but mostly, she’s out to prove that female wrestlers aren’t just pretty faces.

Last I checked, the Olympics were a team sport. While Kurt Angle seemingly lives on another planet, you have to qualify for an individual Earth-based country's team to be in the Olympics.
